Here's another early WIP I wanted to share. While I love the power sword(s) that came with He-Man and Skeletor, I always wanted to see a more Filmation-styled (or inspired) power sword. Since I had the TRU 2-pack He-Man and Skeletor (with Supes & Lex, respectively), I chose to alter the sword that came with Skeletor. I cut the prongs from the sides of the sword (above the handle) and shaved them down a bit (I also shaved down the part of the sword it used to attach to). After cutting them down a bit on both sides, I glued them into place to see if it resembled the sword I wanted. Sure enough, it's almost there! So I started sanding a bit on the outer edges of the prongs, to round it inward a bit and try to help shape it into the Filmation-style sword. I still have some areas to sand and clean up and I want to remove and fix one of the pronged areas, but overall, it's almost complete. After the work is done, I plan to paint this silver (or maybe gray with a light silver drybrush over it).

Once I finish this, I will snap new pics and share them with you guys. And so you guys know, I'm using the She-Ra sword as reference (along with a few screencaps from the old MOTU toon) and it's only slightly larger than the She-Ra sword and the overall shape is almost dead on to the shape of her sword.

    Update:

Finally had a chance to get more done on this (and some other customs). I sanded down some of the rough areas and moved onto the paint. I'm doing thin layers of Tamiya Flat Aluminum on this. Just waiting for it to dry good before hitting with more coats. I did part of the handle and let it dry for a few days to see how it held up to slipping in and out of He-Man's hand, so far so good. The sword is nearly complete and I'll post up my WIP on She-Ra's sword soon (repainting it with the flat aluminum also). I dig the original look of the power sword, but I always loved the Filmation-style much more (probably due to my love of the 80's toon).

Nice work man! If you can elongate the blade you'll have a carbon copy of this: Power Sword being that the filmation sword/characters has always looked the best.
