Well for my entry for the Baynimated Charity event I chose to do jolt. He's obviously a deluxe bumble bee with a a blurr head. Needed a bit of styrene and some putty to make the head that looked at least somewhat similar to the ROTF jolt. I also used a pair of Whiplash whips for an ironman toy. Unfortunately I don't have pictures of them attached to the arms, but they'll be up when the gallery is featured! For now just enjoy Jolt! I've also included a couple comparison shots to the two animated deluxe BB paint schemes. Boy.. The elite guard bumble bee and jolt sure make the standard bee need some extra paint!!
nice stuff. i definitely get a "jolt" vibe from it, but why such a dark blue? regardless, it's a nice blue. Also, why the elite sticker on the chest? (is that what that insignia is called?)
Pretty much all design choices. I really liked the metallic blue paint as it gave an "electric" type feel the blue gave in my opinion. It also provided a nice contrast to the ice blue that I wanted to use for the detailing. The elite Guard sticker was again a design choice. Since it's kind of an "animated" style I felt he would be the kind of autobot that had some kind of specialization that the Elite guard would make use of. I initially had a regular Autobot sticker on the chest, but after receiving some stickers from autobotx32 that I requested, I just liked the elite guard symbol across the chest. It filled out the chest a bit nicer. Again an opinion. Thanks for the kind words!
Nope it's a thinned Model Master Arctic Blue Metallic paint Testors » Model Master » Acryl Paints » Paints » Arctic Blue Metallic Then airbrushed on. Honestly.. It was a HUGE pain to work with.. took me like 3 times of soaking the bee in alcohol right after spraying the first coat before I finally got it to start going on smooth. Not sure why it was so blasted difficult to work with.
I can only show a mock up when they were twist tied on. let me email it to myself. Actually.. no I can't.. because I lost my phone.. hopefully I can find it and send the pic!
Yeah unfortunately each whip is actually taller than he is. I could have done something similar to ROTF jolt and have the little flip in and out "whips" but frankly I wanted to shoot for something more impressive (something more similar to what we saw in the movie). I found my phone so I'll send the pics to my email a bit later and upload the mock up pick of the whips twist tied in place. Thank you everyone for all the kind words!
Thanks for doing Jolt man! I will take new pics anyways so don't kill yourself for pics. I can't wait to do group shots with Wheel_Jacks' Prime and Jetfire.
No Problem Toby! Sorry for the delay.. Found my phone then forgot to upload the WIP whip pics. The whips are done, I just never bothered taking the photos for them since they looked the same just without twist ties.
They are long. I was gonna trim them down.. But then I started thinking about the scene from the movie with jolt in it (that one scene) and they seemed rather long there too.. So i left them.
