Hi guys & gals... since I paused the Nemesis Fire Convoy I'll donate some of those parts to make a RID ULTRA MAGNUS, worthy of the name MAGNUS :p

Sow I was inspired by an unknown artist who turned fire convoy prime into magnus, with a rocket missile base....

I'm gonna scrap the rocket part and make a car-carrier out of RID PRIME + more surprises ;)

    EXTRA ADDED YOUTUBE VIDEO REVIEW:

    ADDED:
-resculpted Armada Super Prime head and added guns for the ears
(since RID PRIME also uses guns as ears sort of I want these to swivel to)
-have a second head (still debeting which to use, Argggg), original G1 UM with light pipe eyes
-the second chest are mostly parts of a junker RID Magnus + Armada Jetfire shield + Fire Convoy parts
-added FIRE CONVOY shoulder upgrade parts which are part of the transformation, no forms towering pieces and/or Jet(hover)mode
-moddified the RID Magnus BGF's to connect to arms/hands (super easy mod BTW!! just dremeling
-mounted the default FIRE CONVOY arm guns on the location GOD MAGNUS's front wheels where
-completed the Car-carrier mode + additional pieces form some sort of tank, hence the new name of this project Powermaster Ultra Magnus
-found a second transformation for all the left over combiner parts
-moddified the Magnus trailer pieces to click into the side of Fire Convoy (the upgrade arms connector pegs)

    TODO:
-maybe find an good use for the leftover parts!

    Enjoy, comments are welcome! :D

UPDATE: Well I got a few paint rub issues, but overall I'm sattisfied... afterall once this one is complete I'll transform him just once and it'll stay in UM BOT mode for eternity :D

more info and far more pictures + explanation can be found here..

I think it would look better with flat paint rather than gloss. Other than that it looks promising. It must have takin alot of work to carve that face and keep it semetrical.

Thnx well actually it was pretty easy...
as this was only my second try at altering a head sculpt!
I only used a 2cm diameter wide dremel cutting disc :D

If I stil had a smaller dics the result and details could have been better...

    But It's okay for now...

Your're right about the flat, but really want the trailer to be gloss, we'll see!

Not sound like a dick, but the head looks very unfinished. I assume it is finished seeing taht it is painted. Are you going to add more to it? As it stands it looks like you took a dremel to the mouth area, but did not clean up the remaining shavings. Maybe add a faceplate and redefine the head a bit more to make it more "boxy".

You have some of the right ideas on customizing but honestly man, sometimes you seem to miss some big problems in neatness and proportions.
In this case, the Magnus' head simply does not have a face. It is a head with eyes and that's it, unless he is supposed to look like he ate a grenade earlier today.
I would suggest either shaving the face down more and making a face from tiny styrene parts or just taking the face from another figure to glue in there.
The blue looks a bit thick and wet, possibly from using gloss paint.
Remember to use several very thin coats of paint to avoid that, and maybe only use gloss paints in places where it works better, like black parts that are supposed to look metallic. I'm actually starting to cut out gloss paints altogether.

I hope none of that sounded rude because I didn't mean it that way. Just trying to give some pointers on things I had to learn too.

LOL :D ... yes and the grenade was delicious ;)

Agree on maybe using other leftover parts to give more fuller facial features... I can always use resin to sculpt done that before

and yes I do have other blue paint in mind Tamiya Mettalic blue...
but this is just an light coat (just extreme glossy) and I always use a Highpass filter on my Nikon D5000 :p  (so it tends to look overreacted)

Yep I think even sculpt could make a much more face-like face. I'm not great at sculpting myself though so mine always look just a bit... crappy. I'm going to start with the styrene next time I can.
You sure have one up on me using an airbrush. I've had one for 62 years and still never used it. It takes either a compressor or cans of air and I hear the fumes are terrible either way. Now that I have a garage I should get on with it.

Ok... don't get me wrong I do have an Airbrush/Model compressor...
but the airbrush piece itself broke 10years ago, I used it on scooter parts!

So now to test I got myself Tamiya Model Spray Cans...
Gonna see if it works, if not then I'll by myself a Badger for 99euro
(or if anybody else got good tips for quality customizing Airbrush?)

I take it that's a joke. I had to go look at your profile to make sure you weren't the oldest TF relic on the face of the earth. :lol

Oh I see you updated the pics. It looks much better.
See what I mean about sculpt looking a bit lumpy? I think the word I used when talking about my own sculpt was "crappy" but what I mean is that anything that stands out from the neat edges of factory production too much hurts the look some.
Flaws are always painfully obvious up close though. Maybe add another very thin layer of sculpt and use some flat edge sculpting tools (or whatever works) to give it a more flat and sharp look. I found that for lips, just a thin cut pressed in with a sharp blade works better than trying to make lips.
    But yeah, much better now!
Its nice to see a good sport that takes advice well too.

You need to update your content in this thread as well. This thread is your project thread. If you wish to have a thread in regards to a "tutorial" thread in Creative GD, that's fine. However, each thread needs to have their own topic. Otherwise, I'll need to merge your threads.

Wow, this guy is coming along rather well now :)  love the G1 head, now how is this going to come together? RID prime is a smaller figure with upgrade parts that turn into a truck, or bigger robot and you've got that bill ol car carrier mode. Are you putting the trailer on top of the truck in place of the ladder? Just curious love UM projects

How did you disassemble Magnus' gun (blue bolts, is it?), I've always wanted to get rid of the mid part (the one with the targeting HUD) and keep the two guns, or keep the two guns together in their BFG form (but without the big silly part)

Agree :D  .... easy... use a soldering iron on the headless screw's and carefully use a little upwards tension, then it will come of...

It's the same method I used on lots of Magnus parts... :(

But I learned it here on the boards, from members who used the technique to remove wheels/rims without damage ;)
