update 10/30/10 BLACKJACK WINS!!! digibashes in post #18 I thought I would share this little project since I won't be able to bash much for a while. I worked on this a while ago but never finished it. I loved the alt mode on this but didn't much like the bot. plus he didn't fit in with my classics based collection. I'm not sure if I want to keep him as barricade or make him Blackjack I have no emotional attachment to either from my childhood but I do try to stick to G1 almost exclusively. Barricade was a formula style race car. At least blackjack was a mustang. Then again it would be nice to retie my collection to the movie line. The alt mode is unchanged. I wish all of life's dilemmas were this trivial but I'm so undecided.
Barricade since Blackjack is an all black sports car. Barricade is a police car. This could also be a homage to Gen 1 Barricde
Replace the Decepticon symbols and the "To punish and enslave..." quote on the back and you can make Stakeout. He's an Autobot, but he turned into a Black Ford Tarus Police Car.
The original barricade, I thought, was a formula one style vehicle. part of the "race track patrol". I'm not about to paint him turquoise, fuchsia and yellow. I'll save that color combination for picking up the ladies. ......anyway, I figured it would be between original blackjack colors or movie cop car colors. Great idea, I may have to check out that fella. for now though I just wanna work with either blackjack or barry. thanks for the votes everyone.
I vote Blackjack, Ninos! I just don't see this being painted up like that formula style race car and this has a Blackjack vibe going on.
I say a barricade, I was actually thinking of doing somthing like this, got a movie barricade and dont collect movie figs, but it seemed like too much work so im repainting a prowl instead lol. If you are doing your own decals give me a shout, I could need them soon.
I love it! I did something similar back when Barricade was first released... I was turning him into Prowl, but eventually Classics Prowl derailed that project, and I never finished it. I like that you permanently attached the wheels under the hood and cut them off his shoulder fins... good call. Does the head actually fit inside... I had a hell of a time squeezing anything larger than the Barricade head in there. I say go for Blackjack. I never really liked the name "Barricade" for a police interceptor. zmog
Personally, make him completely black and call him Blackjack. I've always liked that name for some reason. Makes you think he's a gambling man, a risk taker.
i voted barricade, but in hopes that he will be blue pink and yellow what head and arms did you use to make this figure? I really like the look of it!
Thanks for the feedback and comments guys! looks like blackjack it is! The head came from a cyberton defense hot spot and the hands are gundam 1/100s. The arms are actually barry's original arms. I just took off all the crazy insect looking stuff. thanks Z. yeah, this would've made a cool prowl, or jazz even or a BT wheeljack. The head fits! I have to use a tiny screwdriver to pull him in and out at the moment cuz I can't get my fat fingers in there. but if you check out the windshield, part of it is hidden under the hood in alt mode. I haven't done it yet bot if you cut off the hidden part, that will give you enough room to flip the head back comfortably. I'll be doing blackjack but here's a link for decals that might fit your needs. Ok so we're going with blackjack. shaved down the roof, filled and sanded. now for the deco. these are the designs I came up with. I like the gold stripes personally because they're the most realistic "real world" possibility. thoughts?
A part of me wants to tell you to just keep it black like the original (Sports Car Patrol - 1989 Transformers - Transformers Resources), but I think that's too bland. However, I may be convinced if I see at least the rims pimped out. Just that one detail alone could sell me. I'm inclined to agree with you on your choice, but it really strikes me looking too much like movie Bumblebee. The yellow tint looks strange to me based on your (our ) realistic preferences. The fourth sports a cool deco, but I'm just not feeling it. I do humbly suggest the "C" type of stripe included in the attached photo below. I used it on my Alternators Springer ver. 2.0 (sorry, no photos yet) and I really like it. You could also go with a "Boss" that I used on my first custom Alternators Springer. I hope that helps, bud
