The first post has been updated with ordering information for the blades and WfC piece. Below are some photos of the final blades, with some spraypaint applications that I did. I am an amateur spraypainter at best, but I'm quite pleased with the results; 3 coats of Tamiya clear orange and 3 coats of Tamiya semigloss black. You can also see that the clear detail material is actually very transparent.
Ok so double checking..you used the "transparent detail" material for the swords and the solid black for the wfc piece?
If you want the blades to be clear and look energon-y, transparent detail is the material you want. The WfC adapter needs a stronger material, so any of the like, 7 strong & flexible materials, or aluminide will do.
Considering I don't make any money off of these projects, any hypothetical coupon codes would go right back into testing new designs. So uh, NO.
Awesome, thanks!! For those of us strapped for cash, how long are these going to be available for order?
I'm still on a G2 binge from Botcon, so I've made a little more progress with the backpack thingy. I've modeled it so that it fits snugly in Prime's back, and now I have to think about what to use it as a platform for. One idea is to provide minicon ports/weapon ports a la WfC Prime. Wingblade, uh, wing attachments? Another idea is to add some electronics. As I mentioned in a previous post, the little light box uses parts exclusively from the Gear of War 2 Alternity rifle, no soldering required. The box itself is more to test tolerances, and attempting to use the clear detail material as optical fiber. Just thinking out loud here.
This is wonderful work. I especially like the fusion cannon adapter for Prime. The ROTF-like blades are nice as well.
I just got the blades in the mail...these things are nice!! I got one set to paint orange for optimus and one set to do maybe red or pink for nemesis. Nice work dude
those are all nice! love that your giving g2 prime some love too. are you going to build a set of custom g2 cannons to go with it many of us dont have the original g2 guns (dont know how the demand for those would be) also think you can make it so that the back pack fits the g3 trailer as well.
I'm trying to avoid intricately detailed parts, as the results going through the rapid prototyping process haven't impressed me all that much. Once I get it to work with G2 guns, I think the next step will be making it work for regular 5mm peg weapons (the G2 guns are around 5.25mm), so you can use your own weapons. Below is something that should be ready soon. Even though it's a bit larger than I would have liked, the socket connection was the most elegant way I could think of to minimize the connection to Prime's fist, while maintaining that "ball of energon" look. I'm quite pleased with the proportions of the axe itself. I have one or two other things in the chute, and due to a stupid mistake on my part, the energon connector adapter is going to take just a little longer to finish.
