At LONG last I am extremely proud and excited to present my form of the Constructicons and Devastator. Obvisously this is a project based on the Ptitvite / Frenzy_Rumble model with a few tweaks to make it my own. This set of figures is my first custom project and was a great way to learn and gain confidence to go off and do something unique next time around.

Thanks go to Mike (Frenzy_Rumble) for not only his gift to the community but his willingness to help newcomers to the craft. Also thanks go to Sculpt-Bot for his casted Devastator heads (which will be seen later).

Every other day I will show a new Constructicon all leading up to Devastator himself. (Bare with me as I am shooting the figures and prepping them for display here.)

Since I am new to all this, please let me know what you guys think!

    --------------------------------------------------------------------

    Here comes, Hook:

View the HOOK set at my Flickr album: HOOK - a set on Flickr

    MOLD USED:
    - RID High Tower

    MODS:
Quite a bit went into making this guy functional as a Constructicon:
    - Reworked head mold to look more like the G1 Hook
    - Added a clip on his right shoulder to hold his crane gun so it looks like it is in a holster
    - Added combiner connectors to both his front and back of crane
    - Added combiner connector for Devastator Head ball joint
    - Reworked undercarriage for combiner peg to connect Hook to rest of Devastator body. I did not use legos like some customizers use due to legos offering little to no stability. I wanted a strong connection for hook to the body and an extra large neo-shifter peg did the trick perfectly.

    THOUGHTS:
    - This mold looks great as a crane and provides a VERY stable upper torso to Devastator. It also provides proper clearance for the arm sockets in combined mode. But where these benefits are great, the robot mode is subpar. Poses with this figure are limited due to very little range of motion in the legs. His arms are gimpy and lay weird on the body which makes him look rather clumsy. Simply put, he is a neat looking crane and the stability he gives for Devastator makes up for the lack of robot form. Again, I really don't know what Hasbro was thinking when they made the RID toys. It takes complete customization to make these toys worthwhile.

I saw in your Longhaul thread where you said you use airbrush some.

Man, that paint looks good! I can't get over how smooth it is. I really like your special effects as well.

I can't wait to see some group shots as well as their combined form. I'm really looking forward to a group shot of all the alt modes.
