Face #1. And skip the clamshell packaging. Sure it looks nice, but unless someone is keeping one MIP, whats the point? it adds cost and complexity for something that doesn't matter the moment you switch out the head. wiht a baggie, you can put the G1 head back in it, and then throw it in the box that megs came with, or even thow it all away if one was so inclined. But i don't blame ya for wanting to make some nice packaging, i'd want to do the same thing if i was in your shoes. makes it seem more finished. My two cents. Randy!
can discuss pricing here and i'll b smarter after this weekend tnx randy well the thought of creating something that is collectible is my main idea yes it came from my idea that megs look like crap but ,its my intention to make it a collectible piece ,with a collectors card (that will b the vack card)and a clam shell (or similar) and a secret bonus . yes it will make it all tad more expensive but it will have a 3rd company feel product not just a garage kit . there are many things involved in creating something like this u need to make atleast 10 mold and some test shots ,paying the desinger ,paying for the materials, print, work involved ,shipping the items, keep track of orders ,if my calculations are right this project will just repay itself .... tnx guys for checking this thread and your kind insights
I have to agree about the packaging being a waste of money and effort - it's not something I would feel the need to keep, it would go right in the trash after I get the new part out. Now, if the packaging is adding 25 cents to the cost, big deal - but if it's adding $2 - $3 to the cost it's not something I would want to have to pay for. You should make a poll and see if people actually want it or not, since they are the ones who will end up paying for it.
thats what i was getting at. under a dollar would be reasonable, anything more i'm not as excited about. I understand wanting to make somethign seem more produced and all, but I feel like too many people try and do somethign to big their first try out. Concetrate on the product and make a good one. people will remember that in the the long run over how it was packaged. Nothing wrong with garage kits, as long as the product is done well. Thats all I'm trying to get across. But it looks good! Sorry, i forgot to say that. I'll be buying one, i've never liked the originals head. Randy!
Yeah, even MP had many of the same issues, it's inherent in the design! I love him too though (on some level) and would certainly buy your upgrade when it's ready
After seeing the pic of the actual casted piece I definately prefer the 3rd face. I agree with others that clamshell packaging isn't necesarry. A ziplock baggy would suffice for me. Though I do definately understand the intend, I'll probably toss out the package the moment I open it. Anyway, can't wait to see some colored pics of the actual products. Keep up the good work!
tnx lord ginrai well i see that people moght not be so interested in the packaging .... bummer for me , i wanted to make some that will look and feel official well i might open a new pull for that
Bellyboy, all were trying to say is that we'd rather you concentrate on the product, and keep costs down for all. On your next project, (cause i see more in your future with your concepts and thinking) where it's somethign larger, go ahead and do a cool packaging. I've just seen things get killed before because peope were too ambitious in the wrong areas. But if you really want to do it, do it. It's your thing, and thats not going to keep the majority of people away from the product. Randy!
tnx Randy well for me a product is a product baby like ... u start with an idea blah blah blah till it come to life , u have lots of plans for it ... i realy wanted to make "a real" product ,not just something that i'll sell in a small ziplock bag ,but if that what the customer wants that whats he will get . i'll still make a small bunch of the packages and i'll try them ,if some people will want it so they will have it . it will defenitly reduce the price dramaticaly(like 5$ less).
Fair enough, and I know what you mean. i've been wanitng to make my own transforming toy forever, but have deicided on working on small kits of sorts until i figure some thigns out and get the process down. Either way, I think were all anxious to see what you do. Randy!
they are here well the shapeway order arrived today and look awesome !! cashanove knows how to work his toys here are some mock up pics of the heads in the butt of the gun heads 1 and 2 will b produced . no packaging only a small ziplock bag ,and a banner .... to reduce the costs final price is update here head 3 - will prodcuce only on a commision base head 1 head 2 puke head -lol
Sweet, that's a good price. I'll gladly take one of your hands, assuming they will be painted. Head 3 still definately has my preference btw. It's nice to see you're offering all the heads however. So how much would it be for that headtype?
well i finished him this is the final product the casts are plastic resin ,casted in black ,sprayed glossy black ,and then alclad 2 chrome , eyes painted red all is coated in protective finish . i'll open a new thread in the repro section u can order your heads here or by mailing me at [email protected] prices and all the small print in there in the making-heads are glued to double sided sticky tape final product
