Baytastic? I'm not sure if that's really a compliment or not. :p  But in all seriousness go for it if you're inspired. It's a lot of fun and really rewarding once you're done - this is my favorite Transformer right now and I'm usually a purist about only having official TFs in my collection.

BTW, I should have some pictures of the leg connections up tomorrow for those who are interested.

Fantastic! I love that you did as much to enhance the figure as possible, without ruining the overall design. He looks so much better with the Classics line than what we had received at retail.

i too, try to employ the least painted technique when possible, as well.

I love what you did, i would've liked to have seen the Long Haul bed match his cab.

if you had left him as is, i could see that working too, but if you're gonna do some, i would do the whole figure. just my opinion.

doesn't take away from a great job though!

That is Devastatingly beautiful. I love the head sculpt. I hope the small knock off one I'm doing looks a tenth as good.

Hmm, I wanted to get rid of the clear arms (I hate clear parts on a TF that don't make sense) but I also didn't want to lose the massive Decepticon symbol on Devy's back. I thought about highlighting some of the bed with the new green but wasn't sure if it would clash too much.

    What do y'all think?

Okay, I finally got around to taking some more detailed transformation pics and added some details on the parts used.

Mods, is there a chance you could change the title to "Constructicons merge for the kill! Form DEVASTATOR! With tutorial added (pic heavy)"? Thanks!

If anyone had any other questions or pic requests please let me know!

The parts I made these guys out of are:

Scrapper: Walmart exclusive Cybertron Landmine repaint with a modified G1 Onslaught head.

    Scavenger: Build Team Constructicon deco

    Bonecrusher: Build Team Constructicon deco

    Hook: Build Team Constructicon deco

    Long Haul: Energon Demolisher

Mixmaster: Energon Barricade, ROTF Toys R Us exclusive Mixmaster, a G1 Prowl's leg piece and some G1 seeker missile stubs (can you find them all?).

Devastator: Custom sculpty head, Metroplex parts, MP Starscream tail fins (I had already made a custom Thrust that didn't need them, Unicron parts (doh), and Neo shifters joints.

    Transformation:

    Left leg + Mixmaster:

I actually didn't use the connection ports Barricade already has. I realized that when I cut Unicron's leg at that height,
the 2mm indentations of Barricade's missile launcher (right under his foot) actually slots into the space inside Unicron's leg pretty tightly. So
I used that and then cut a "T" shape into the sides of his legs for the foot pieces sans the missles. It all holds together with some tension and
a bit of friction and it actually does so very firmly. To do that though I spent about 15 minutes per "T" slot VERY slowly making it bigger until
Barricade's foot pieces barely fit in. Now I'm pretty sure no one else has done it this way and I might have gotten lucky so be cautious if trying
this approach; a small miscalculation in the carving could have easily screwed this up.

    Right leg + Scrapper:

This one was slightly simpler. I used some bits of Unicron to fill in the hollow space in his leg and simply used some screws coming in both sides
to hold it in place. I carved out one of Unicrons's foot joints to accomidate Scrapper's feet (looking at this picture I need to polish that area
off a bit :p ). I then drove a metal pin through it and dremmeled some holes into the unside panels of the payloaders rear wheels. You can probably
see that I did this twice; the first pin I drove through was too unstable and I had to redo it. Once everything is clipped in it holds together
    super tightly.

Holy mother of God I need to clean this piece up!

    Long Haul:

Okay so here I once again deviated from the norm and used all of Unicron's back as the frame. Some might condsider that cheating but it allowed
my to create the base mode and much more importantly it made Devastator stable as f***! So I siimply cut a slot near Unicron's neck that allows
Long Haul's "bed connector" to slot in and then slide up; the connector widens closer to Long Haul's head which allows for a tight fit.

Note the slot and the hole on the top of the frame: that's where Hook slots into.

    Hook:

With Hook I used two pieces to slot into the frame. First I used one of his heels. Simply and very stable. Next I took one of the small tabs
that swivel out of his shoulder and extended it with a Neo Shifters part. This side doesn't slide in very tightly, it just stops Hook from sliding
    around any.

    Bonecrusher:

Here is used the panel that held Build King's head and SLOWLY carved out an "omega" shaped hole that slots into the horizontal cylinder in Unicron's
elbow joint. I had to add an additional tube (again scavenged from Unicron) to stop the tab from sliding up and down the elbow cylinder. Again,
if you try this you have to be very careful! If you make the hole in the panel too big or if you make the "neck" of the hole too wide, you will not
be able to fix it easily.

He then connects to Hook using Neo Shifters connections. Note that I had to modify the existing joint with a screw and a few layers of super glue
to make the joints tight enough to hold a range of arm poses.

    Scavenger:

This one was fun! I just cut some slots into Unicron's elbow and some slight indentations into Scavenger's feet. Simply slot together and you're
done! I also added a a Neo Shifter's post into Scavenger's original combination port.

    BFG

I wanted to give Devastator a gun that seemed big enough to do him justice. Well, Unicron's chest launcher seems to fit that bill quit nicely. The
best part is that no modification is required to add to Devastator's arm! after removing the Unicron spikes, there's a hole left on the bottom
of Devy's forearms - the gun can just clip right in there as shown below.

And there you go, Devastator is ready to terrorize the Autobots!

But only after limbering up of course!

Updated the thread with uploaded tutorial pics. I also used up the last of my green paint mix to add some stripes to Long Haul's bed - I ran out of the green paint mix so I can't paint the whole bed, and besides, I didn't want to lose the massive Decepticon symbol on Devastator's back.
