I have to admit, I agree with this critique. The horns seem out of place, and have been a minor distraction for me, contrasted with all the broader geometric forms in the design. Out of curiosity, are the horns your particular addition to the design, or are they inspired by something else in the TF canon?

Any chance of this being ready for Botcon? The offer to take one along for you is still open but you'd have to 24 hour it to me, I'm guessing we're up against it for time? Desperately trying to finish the 2 Soundwaves for Dick and myself before the con, taking out Captain America's chain-mail is a pain in the ass, I blame John Cassaday!

Also, I have to agree, I think fattening up the shoulders might help as they look a little skinny next to City Commander. Keep the horns though, but maybe widen the rest of the shoulders and have the horns not protrude so much? Either way though, freaking awesome job and if I don't get one eventually I will cry.

Thanks! Do it! It's quite satisfiing seeing something you've designed come to life.

    We'll see.

    Thats a good sign! Thanks!

Yep, I used Universe Silverbolt for all the ratcheting joints to keep all the posability top quality.

Silverbolt. Arms, legs and centre post.

Thanks. Cost around £150 so far.

    Cool. Thanks!

Good eye my friend! And thanks!

Thank you, It's been a true labour of love.
    Thanks!

    Thanks!

    Thanks!

    Thanks! Me too!
Thanks! Not quite as simple as that so far, but its getting there!

Thanks! £150 so far, still waiting on the clear parts.

Thanks man, I'm starting to think I'm the only one who likes the IDW shoulder horns. I may redesign the shoulders so horns can be optional.

    ...And yes WSF.

All donations to be made out to the B.G.F.C. (Better Galvatrons for Collectors)

I'd love for this to become something more widley available but it's very early days yet.

    even with horney shoulder pads???

    Cool!
The shoulders were based on IDW Galvatron.

Sorry dude, I doubt I'll be done by then.
Have you thought about just cladding over the chain mail with thin sheet styrene.

Dude, If anyones gonna get one it's you!

I think what might be off about the horns is the shape, you designed them to be round/organic looking rather than the edged pyramid shape seen in the comics...

Other than that, I think this is a great idea, and I'm sure you'll be quite successful :D

Doing a little digging, it looks to me that the shoulders could do with being a bit chunkier, and maybe the angle that the horn comes away from the shoulder should be at an incline? I like the organic shaped horns for reasons you've read in my flash fiction, but the pyramid works well too.
I notice no-one has asked where the spikes on the feet are. I think they look like pixie boots, glad you've avoided them.

    Thanks!

Thanks! As I designed them I started with them as pyramids, but as I went on they seemed a bit plain so curved them inwards.

Horns, pyramids or nothing, I'm sure this will be a situation where I can't please everyone.

    Thanks! I hope so!

"Cough. Toe caps havn't arived yet. Cough."

To be honest I thought the missile launchers on the back of the shoulder pads would have been a bigger issue with people.

even with the horny shoulder pads. i think they will look alot more intergrated once there is colour on the shoulders. everything always looks different before its painted up. i love this and enjoyed reading the design follow through

Very nice work here, man! I like that you planned this out well and had the parts done for you. It all looks great! It's interesting to see the various Galvatron incarnations in parts of this. I think the only part I don't care much for are the shoulders. That's pretty much a personal opinion though and I know they're based on IDW's Galvatron (just haven't liked 'em that much). Overall, this is one great (and well thought out) piece of work! I'm also curious about the price point on these if you plan to make the parts available. I really dig seeing these Galvatron customs in recent months. I'm a huge fan of the character and I've also been building my own over the last couple of months (with plans to build a second to auction off). Good luck with yours if make the parts available! Looking forward to seeing you do more stuff like this.

    Thanks! So would I!

Thanks! Me too, I can't wait to get to the painting stage.

Arnt scalpers suposed to make money???

Dude, I love your Galavatron, the level of detail is inspiring! Especially on the head.
I think the shoulders are a love/hate thing with most people, but only haveing 1 design issue out of all the choices I made aint bad.

I'm still unsure whether it's gonna be feasable to create a kit or finished figure in a limited run.

My initial idea was to make a few to cover costs and be able to have one for myself and maybe a couple for friends, but It's a slow process.

Last night it took me 3hrs just to prep 1 half of 1 leg! Out of all my design measurements everything fits like a glove, even the track in the torso for the centre post... Except the holes I put in the inside leg to be able to access the screws on the silverbolt leg, some how I miss calculated and they are all off to one side by 3mm.
No big issue but it means more styrene work than I wanted.

    *blushes, removes foot from mouth*
Er, er, I was just saying to Aimee how much I like the horns on the toes.

Each to their own I guess, I mean, I want a cowboy hat for SG Hound so I can't really comment.

You gonna change the shoulders for the next version?

I'm thinking about it, I'll need to change the screw holes in the legs anyway and I was thinking of splitting the shoulder pads down the middle for easier aplication.

So do I lose the horns altogether? Replace with pyramids? Shorten the main pads or beef them up? Keep the missile pods or lose them?

They have to be big enough to cover the original silverbolt shoulders.

Beef them up overall, fatter, chunkier, shorten the pyramid / horn "shelf" for want of a better word so its still there, maybe change the angle it leaves the shoulder. like in one of the pictures I posted earlier.
And then, if people still don't like it...well, they can PICK THEIR OWN SWEETCORN!

I am also thinking putting the horns lower so they resemble shoulderpads.
