Hey guys!!!!!! I wasn't going to post him until he was a 100% done but decided that I haven't posted anything in a while so I would give you a sneak peek at him.I started this a few weeks ago when my girlfriend was lucky enough to score this for me. I know Wheeljack is a Turbo and I even tacked on the wing and lower front lip from the conversion kit to try and give him that look. But because of how different the body styles are it just didn't feel right to me and I took them off.I thought about try to make the body look more like a Turbo but a few factors stooped that cold. This is my first real attempt at a re-shell and with the cost of the model and how hard they are to find I won't lie to you ..........I was scared.I didn't want to push myself to hard on this. However I am in the middle of securing a few more of these and now that I feel a little more comfortable and understand re-shelling a little more I will be back with a Turbo!!!!!!!!! I still have a lot of work to do but just wanted to share him with all of you. Hope you like what see and thanks for looking!!!!!!!!!! And in case it hasn't been done yet....Moderators if could please delete the other thread of mine with the same title? Thanks
Thanks a lot!!!!!!!!! I read wikkids' re-shell tutorial at sector70 over and over again.Glad that it's paying off!!!!!!
Dude, that's AWESOME! I'm pretty sure that the Stratos Turbo and the Rally are the same body, just different options...I've been toying with the idea of doing a rally version of him myself, but the kit is pretty expensive, and I am not that confident... But yours looks really good man! Good job!
Thanks!!!!! Glad you like him!!!! I know exactly how you feel. That's why I took this one slow. The Turbo has a much more square back and rear fenders then the Rally. Also has the body kit. Here are some pics. Now you can see why the wing didn't look great.I wasn't ready to tackle the challenge of rebuilding the back end but soon!!!!!!!
Man i wish i could do this this is just the best wheeljack custom ever made keep it up maybe ill be able to make it what kind of kit was used btw?
He's coming along great . Would that happen to be a slot car you're using for the reshell? I really need to take a closer look at the range of shells. So many possibilities...
Whoa wait, Rafe, this is your first reshell?! That's amazing! So far, my favourite part is WJ's chest, totally classic. He looks short.....can you make him taller? The stoutness does make him very G1.
I think you've done a VERY nice job so far. I have to say this is one of my favorite "Classics" Wheeljacks to date. Keep us in the loop, man
That is awesome. Really. I've had that idea in my head for years but don't have the parts/skills, but you nailed it. Well done.
Indeed it is. I've been eyeing that kit for a while now. 1/32 scale slot kits are close to perfect for a deluxe class reshell. Xaviercal's Jazz and my real old wip are from a slot kit. Nice work, rumble619! I can't wait to see how it comes out. As I said, I've been watching that slot kit for a while now and damn straight are they expensive. =) You gotta pay $50-60+ for the slot car. There's an unbuilt kit by Team Slot that's floating around - watching one on eBay BIN GBP 26 but with shipping and conversion to USD, it's $55. Not sure what the difference would be between the Scaletric and Team Slot ones - but I'm sure not much unless you're actually using it as a car. Nonetheless, it's a lot of money to put into something that could go up in smoke if you screw up a cut or something while bashing!
Thanks for the props!!!!!!!!! From what people are saying I guess it's a 1/32 slot car.The car was expensive though but if you do get one just take your time and don't try anything you're not comfortable with and it will come out awesome!!!!!!! Let me know if you try this. Thanks buddy!!!!!!! Actually his feet aren't attached yet and even without them he's the same size as Ratchet. The pic I took is at an angle and Ratchet is a little bit behind him but trust me.....he'll be tall enough lol Thanks you guys!!!!!! I'm glad that I'm doing something right with this guy.I will definitely keep you guys posted!!!! I guess it is a slot car.I didn't know that when I got it.My girlfriend snagged it for me at a hobby shop her cousin goes to a lot so I just assumed it was a model of some kind. Thanks for clearing this up for me!!!!! Yeah it is scary working on something that cost so much. That's exactly why I just kept this simple!!!!!!!
Hey buddy!!!!!!!! Like what you see? They still haven't gotten here yet. Thanks!!!!!!! The hood is on a hinge with a ball joint attached to it so it can spin 360 degrees. The hood flips forward then you just rotate it!!!!
