The mouth piece is more rounded at the nose versus that sharp cut he usually has. I did consider shaving it for that sharper edge, but didn't want to ruin the face in the process. I was looking for the 1 you did. Is it posted on tfw? I'd like to see how you painted yours.
I don't get why it's apparently so hard to make a G1 Prime that has a great robot form and truck form when he's so relatively simple. RotF movie Leader Prime is a far more complex design yet looks totally convincing and accurate in both forms. For me the original 1984 Optimus Prime still seems the best for the G1 character though he's see through in the chest area and obviously quite limited articulation but he's great for the time. I don't wanna speak about the trouble I had with the 25th Anniversary/Masterpiece Prime I bought and then took back and put me off the entire MP line (though Grimlock's tempting) but again the truck mode on that was pretty bad too, not as bad as this figure (which again the topic started has painted to look a lot better at least in robot form) but still pretty terrible especially from the side.
I actually looked at it with my eyes. It's crap. Sure it fits better than this one but it's still crap. Look at it from the side. No windows or door and legs still just look like legs tucked behind.
Yeah I typed 25th when I meant 20 (been talking about 25th Anni GI Joes with someone and got the number confused) same as Masterpiece. Sorry about that.
anyways nice repaint. This figure is plagued with visible head and non telescoping legs that really take away from truck mode but the robot mode is actually cool and is actually quite fun. Nice job making it more g1 ish
Thanks for the comment katch26. Carnivac... I can see what you are talking about with the 20th anniversary not having the side windows.
Just to let you guys know this is on e-bay too. I don't know how to link this to e-bay yet. Still trying to figure that 1 out. Any questions please let me know. Thanks.
Nice painting, now he just needs the trailer. I think this mold is far superior to the Voyager one. Now, if the stupid Voyager mold had kept the proper look...
