Yes I know, I have tried this before, but the pieces were too big to fit in my small pot. Until Now. This past weekend I came into possession of this little guy. He is hand sculpted obviously and not a bad gate. It does have a couple problems. First its too thick for my taste, around an inch in places. Second, it is cast in plaster of paris. WAY too fragile. So I hoped against hope that it would fit in my pot, and it does. With about 1/4 inch to spare. So I boxed him up. and rubber was poured. I took it out of the pot this morning. WOOHOO the box held. I was a little worried since it was made of posterboard. So I deboxed it and here is my new shiny stargate doughnut. it has an 8 inch OD. first attempt, forgot to put a board under the mold to make sure its level. thicker on one side than the other. 2nd attempt, funny how much a different keeping the pot level makes. much more consistent thickness on this one. Enough folks have told me they want one that I will be selling them on a by order basis. they are a lot of resin so they will be 25 plus shipping. PM me if you seriously want one.
That is so cool asphalt,I wish I had the money to buy one from you,but I am trying to save some money for a vacation in a couple of months. But excellent project there. BTW later on down the road do you think you will do a more accurate SG,you know where the inner ring spins and the chevrons move. That would be the greatest thing if you could do that.
I wish someone would make tiny gates for dioramas that didn't cost an arm and a leg. But this is great, I tried to make a gat once, but it never got finished.
A DHD is in the works. I am just debating how detailed to go with it. I am also trying to decide whether to power it with my "Alienite crystals" that I alreayd have cast for my store or to cast a Z.P.M. to house within the base as a power source.
Thanks Bruticus. So I suppose I have a fire gate, now I need an Ice Gate. I tinted it with just the tiniest drop of blue. This second pic is it flipped over and shot from the back. It actually is clear, the front just has a matt finish so it looks a little frosty.
Why I love TFW and its ability to have people put up non-TF customs: ^ THIS. It's genius, and if I had the money, I would buy. Just needs a small General O'Neill and Teal'c. And a large Amanda Tapping. ^_^
