Overall, I think this is a very ambitious piece! My comments are two fold:

I thought I'd get the negative out of the way, first. I think MrB's comment here reflects some of my own observations. I think your piece comes across as a bit too busy. I think some streamlining could really help this one.

Also, check some of those paint apps. Overall, you've done really well. I'd just recommend going back and refining some things. :)

This is the core strength of your piece. Conceptually, it's good, but the fact that you had a blast with it AND that communicates to others really sells it. I doubt we'll ever see a custom like this, and that's a very good thing :)  It's truly a breath of fresh air. :thumb

    Nice work, man :)

I'm interested in more of your thoughts on streamlining this. Also, soon as i'm done refining the paintjob (the best i can without starting over), i will take some new pics. mostly the front end.

Thanks for the crits, and how far from the coast is Zebulon? My wife and I just vacationed in Ocracoke last fall.

I think the flames are a bit overkill for starters. I do think the effect is cool, but I think they detract from the custom, especially since the design is busy to begin with. Since you're refining the paint job, I'll save most of my criticisms there to see your revised work. Even though he's a "Junkion", I do think the paint job should still be pretty smooth, maybe with a little bit of weathering to convey "junkiness". I think as far as paint goes, the white is the most troublesome area. I'd recommend sanding it down a little bit with wetsanding, and either use a spray or brush it on with Future mixed in. I'd also recommend integrating those Animated Twin bits on the rear a bit somehow with paint.

Another way to approach the "junkiness" of it is to make it a hodgepodge of panels from other bots, very much like Autobot Spike, where each part is very distinguishable. This approach may work better given the TM "parter" :)

As far as painting goes, I think mainly the flames are what's kickin' me. I do have to give you props for the attempt to paint them though.

I really hope my comments can be useful to you. If I didn't like this custom so much, I wouldn't bother

As far as Zebulon is concerned, it's about 20-25 minutes east of Raleigh. If you're ever this way, lmk!

thanks, dude. If i ever build this one again, i may try a traditional Junkion paint job. as for the splotchiness that occurs, i'll straight up admit i didn't do as nice a job as i would have liked - it wasn't a decision to make it splotchy because he's a Junkion.

now i'm wondering for the Backfire legs... they are in the back of the truck near the red and black, but they're in the front of the jet... hmm... then again, if i repaint Backfire's body, too, i could make him mostly black and red, and then backfire could blend in better in the truck rear, and give the nosecone a different look from the front of the truck mode...

i may just do this. i'll let you know :)
