Thanks for posting this You did a really good job on ol' Highbrow here What all can you tell us about your piece?
I was really blown away when I realized that there was an mp prime under all this. you really grabbed all the necessary bits of visual ques that are highbrow. an awesome effort. I little polishing around the edges and this thing would be perfect.
Base bot is 20th Anniversary Prime, I started this about 6 months back and had no scratch building experience whatsoever so I heavily consulted tutorials on here and on sector70. The four thingies that are the front and back of his lower were pieced together with acrylic and styrene and then cast with resin to get them as close to full copies as possible while the things on the side of the legs were built with acrylic, hinges, and a section of white train track (didn't have to paint it!) from the model toy shop. the chest from the orignal prime was gutted and replaced with a styrene skeleton that was later filled in with mighty putty and sanded until it was smooth. I cut small pieces from bionicle pieces and was able to superglue them to prime's smokestacks, which allows for them to have a decent range of movement, I'l post the pic if anyone wants to see it. An advantage of using acrylic for this was that it was see thru thus allowing me to observe what was happening between the panels before I painted them, this was especially useful for the sections on his arms/wings. The cockpit was scaled up using hydrospan and it actually warped slightly which was a bit of a bitch to work around but I think I made it look ok. Any other questions, just ask. Oh yeah, I know the headmaster is shit, it was supposed to have been a legends soundwave or the gun from vector prime but I didn't have it with me when the contest was ending so I was forced to scratch build the monstrocity you see here
I gotta agree. I just don't know what to say. I'd LOVE to be able to post more significant feedback, but when someone post something like this, it's like my brain freezes and all I can think is "WOW"
Thanks for taking the time to go back and detail more about things. You've certainly done well on this one I hope we see more from ya
