Tell me what you gus think of this repaint I tried to get as close to G1 as possible. I still gotta touch him & nightstick up but I posted some before and after pics Enjoy Im trying to find a color to break up the purpe in alt mode if anyone has an Ideal , All suggestings are welcome On this particular repaint I used Games workshop paint . The colors were Liche Purple for body, Boltgun metal for legs, and Chaos Black for the feet. I have used many different kinds of paint , but Games workshop is by far my fav. The paints come out so clean when brushed on. hope this helps you guys create a repaint like this and thanks so much for the comments they have helped alot heres a few update pics after I touched him up a lil
Now this is Cyclonus. Better than the Hasbro version, and sure as hell better than Disko Stu Version that Takara did.
Very nice shade of purple. Looks so clean and smooth. If you're happy with it, I say leave it as is. You said as close to G1 as possible.
What purple is that? Looks very nice. To break up the solid color, start with a metallic color for the wings and fins - remember that the G1 had grey wings and tailfin/engine sections. Other than the inside shoulder sections being grey, the original Universe toy was close to the G1 scheme to begin with - just the wrong shade of purple. If it were mine, I'd leave the wings purple and just paint the tailfin/engine sections a metallic color. If you don't want to stick with the G1 scheme and just break up the alt mode, consider metallic accents on the back of his legs, which form the top of the plane - those pieces have a bit of detail that would break up the solid color in alt mode.
If you look at a pic of Cyclonus you'll notice that the area around his "bellybutton" is an amber/yellow color that really helps add alot of contrast to the purple...also notice the dark blue highlights on his ears and wings. It seems that his forearms and kneecaps are an even different shade of purple, and all of this ties together to break up the color. Your Cyclonus though looks amazing! Would you be willing to talk more about your painting process? The finish looks very smooth, and I would like to try something like this with my own Cyclonus.
Looks much better! Deffinatley better than Hasbro and Takara's. Wish they could have done a color scheme like this.
All I have to say is if you like it, Don't change it. alot of folks will disagree but that's their problem.
