Really? Must be the exposure of the photograph or the lamp that I had on in the room at the time since I didn't do anything to the windshields aside from strip the stock green paint and reapply the appropriate colors. I did paint the seats and stuff inside the cockpit black so maybe that darkened them up a little.

Haha well Starscream is Henkei but thanks since the Henkei look is what I was going for :)

Very clean paint job man. What did you use to disassemble the seeker parts.

Initially I used a screwdriver and a pin push/hammer to completely disassemble Thundercracker. As I get more of these guys under my belt I'm realizing that just a screwdriver and masking tape is needed since disassembling is more hassle than it's worth. LOL

What kind of spray paint are you using and what's your process for stripping the figures of their stock finish? Rubbing alcohol?

Are you getting any chipping during transformations? These look really clean! Nice work!

I've mostly been using Tamiya TS spray paints but I might us Testors for Sunstorm since I didn't like the results from the colors I had available with Tamiya

First step is always disassembly and paint stripping using 70% isopropyl alcohol. I soak everything except for the clear parts. You can rub off the paint on the clear parts using a q tip with the alcohol.

There is no chipping but it rubs on the wing hinges for example. I'm gonna touch up and use future to hopefully nip that in the bud

Thanks for the reply, do you do any scrubbing after they soak in the alcohol? Is the spray paint enamel based? I've been using acrylics on everything up to this point but it seems like enamel may be the way to go for durability. How did you end up doing the stripes?

Once again great work, these came out great.

Yeah some paint just wipes right off after the soak. Some is more stubborn and takes scrubbing or even some fine grit sandpaper to loosen up.

I think it's acrylic but I'm not sure. The stripes were done by masking the whole wing except for the stripes I wanted. It took a lot of redos cause I kept bleeding the paint. Finally got it in my head to prime the stripes first so I wouldn't need to coat so heavily
