thanks! the feet are from RID prowl Update 04/07/10 Got the hood on and figured out the transformation to finish up the lower leg region a bit, the first pics of the legs are a little after putting them on, the last is after i took down the overhanging bit and filled it in and sanded. Hes basically done at this point transformation wise. Now Im using apox. sculpt to close all gaps, and make things a bit more level.
Sweet Primus this is fantastic! I love how you worked the legs in, he really does have a sleek and well balanced look in both modes!
Using the rear of Sideways as the front end is downright ingenious, because its simple and looks mean and perfect.
Update 04/13/10 used apoxy sculpt to form the hood/fender section, as well as added side skirts to change the proportions of the alt mode slightly, and also molding some joints. sanded, shaped and smoothed with sandpaper. This is my first time using any kind of sculpting clay of any kind, I was really impressed with the apoxy sculpt though...really easy to work with and predictable... the first pic is before adding side skirt sections. Gonna wait for it to cure completely and then clean it up, then should be ready for priimer I think, well..except for finding a head. The robot mode needed to be changed a bit (not shown), since the thickness of the sculpted parts made his stance a bit too wide for my liking. The gap in front of the hood cant be helped, as its needed for the transformation.
Slick! If I may mention, though, that side shot of the alt. mode seems to indicate the crest of the hood at it's highest point is nearly as tall as the car's roof is, making it hard for it to look like anybody could realistically drive the car. At this point, would it be possible to either lower the nose of the car just a bit or to raise the cabin enough so that one could see over the hood? Just my opinion. Also, you could turn the gap in the hood into a really long hood scoop, to help blend it into the design without sacrificing transformation. Other than those two things, just is a great project so far!
Thanks, I know that the body has a bit of odd proportions, its something I cant get around though due to the transformation of his legs. I used that to sorta fit in to the final figure's bio..that he scanned an unfinished concept car... I did bring it down as far as i could though, and also lessened the gap a bit.. Update whatever day today is... Havent done any work on him in a while...but finally got something done.. I accidentally stumbled on the perfect look I wanted for his legs when I put him back together incorrectly..so had to do some major surgery to make it happen.. Added a hip joint based around a ball joint, allows the lower body to rotate into the proper config I want, plus adds articulation.. Also replaced the rear of the car/ chest with a single styrene piece instead of the multiple pieces before.. Also cut down the neck some more and changed heads to a more proportionate size. Using the voyager cybertron starscream head, and creating a socket for the ball joint. Also added a bit more width to the doors. Last bit is to add a chest plate/ engine...then should be ready for paint... Thanks
I'm really liking what you are doing here. I love these kind of customs....you are making it work. Keep it up
Wow... this degree of chopping and engineering is so far beyond me! Fortunately there are bashers far less lazy than I to produce work like this. Great stuff... can't wait to see how it turns out. zmog
well, still going, somehow this is the only bash ive been doing all year..I really just couldn't seem to be satisfied with the legs and the resulting alt mode, so..I scrapped em totally and started over..and am definitely more satisfied now (even though the legs are now hollow)..The styrene hood/ legs are justthe support/shape..All thats left now is to use apoxy sculpt to actually form the hood and fenders fully, and fill in some caps before actual paint. oh yeah and ad the other wheel..lol He stands about a hair shorter than rotf lockdown, and in alt mode is about the size of alternity alt modes.
