This is a work in progress. I wanted to post this now because I may get real busy real quick with getting ready to head back to Taiwan (where my parts bins are!) I don't want to be stepping on the toes of anyone entering the Sector 70 contest, but I just need to be doing this stuff whenever I can. And I'm thinking that any suggestions, comments, or encouragement from any of y'all could only help me with any progress I'll make on this over the next little bit while here on Prince Edward Island. As you can see, the Hardhead base is from Greywave. After a lot of time changing things around and thinking of lots of different mod options, I think leaving the mold pretty much as is will actually work out the best. I will of course add tank parts on his back. Also a shoulder cannon. The first pic is a digibash just to get the general idea. Duros is from a little Mega Bloks Halo set. I hacked away at him to allow transformation and to accommodate the panels. A lot of panels and fitting left to go, as well as building a face! (two of them actually) All thoughts on this welcome and encouraged.
oh hell yes! ANIMATED WIN! i think that's one of the best uses of the animated SW moldi've seen good job
I would have to agree, and this is coming from a guy that dislikes aminated toys!!! I just might have to steal this idea for myself. Totaly rawkage man!!!
the idea and mold choice is great! the only thing im worried about is the head. i mean its deff just a WIP but it just seems to need alot of work, and not seem so blocky but otherwise, its gonna come out great and i cant wait to see the end result!
Thanks all of you for your shared excitement on this project! Yeah, those hip pieces have a nice shape to them (no giggity intended). And adding some shape and lines to the flat panels I have so far would definitely look better. Good suggestion.
The Shockwave neck IS really well articulated, but all I have left it is a little grey piece that allows for some up and down movement. That's what I put the peg sticking out of. And I simply drilled a hole in the top of the Halo guy's head for attachment. I found that with the black Shockwave neck pieces and the Halo head, the headmaster sat too high. With the neck all removed there is a nice hole for the Halo dude's head to hide away in, and the little guy's head is on a ball joint that allows for plenty of neck articulation for 'head on' mode. Thanks again for all the positive comments dudes.
I’m afraid not. I have been settled here in Taiwan now for a number of years, but I never did get back to work on a few started customs. Only recently have I been somewhat back at it, re-tackling some unfinished Kreon customs (mostly to get them out of my project area). Just paint and stickers to go but perhaps when I get to the point where I’m mixing up the green for the Hardhead Kreon, I’ll also be ambitious enough to dig this Animated Hardhead out and paint the green as well! Also, recently I dug out all my Animated figures and put them on display again. Your inquiry into this old, almost forgotten custom, has rekindled the desire to see it on the shelf together with all the other characters. So thank you.
