Yep, another one First off - massive props to GMFan101, firstly for giving me (and everyone else) the inspiration to do this custom, and secondly for the advice and guidance he gave throughout the time it took me to do this. Metalhawk was made from a Universe Cyclonus as a base, but was modified in several places (extensive mods for me, a novice, but probably run-of-the-mill for the rest of you! ). Fins were taken off his arms and replaced on his legs; I did a hand-swap on the left hand so he could hold another gun; guns were built from styrene and a model airplane; plugs were moved from his arms to his shoulders; and the Cyclonus head was modified to remove the ears and add scratch-built antennae. Oh, and the nose of the jet mode was modified with putty too. The colours as usual were Citadel colours, using about four different paints Blood Red, Ultramarine Blue, Boltgun Metal, and Skull White. The chest was actually a custom mix, as I wasn't sure whether I wanted to go for toy-accurate gold, or anime-accurate yellow - so I went for a halfway house, which ended up with a colour rather like Indian jewellry. Looks very nice in person, anyway. There are a few bits I've noticed on the photos which have scratches (bloody transformation process), but also there are parts which are intentionally unpainted (notably the plugs on the shoulders) as there would be too much paint scratching otherwise. One thing I wasn't able to get was a good place for the guns to go in alt mode. I'm not too worried about this though, I'd rather have him looking good in both modes than have the guns go somewhere I'm not happy with. As always, comments and critique are more than welcome!!!
Nah, I think each one of the three (so far!) has got its own merits I like the head on yours more, for example, and obviously GMFan101's had much more extensive mods. I prefer the colours on mine, however. We need to combine all three, for one kick-ass Metalhawk Thanks dude
The matte colours give him a totally different look, more akin to his animation cell. Good work bro, turned out really well!
Cheers guys Thanks man, and thanks for all your help The gold / yellow is actually metallic in person, but a more... metallic yellow than gold, if that makes sense? But hey, whatever. The colours are pretty bright and bold, which is pretty much everything you expect from a Japanese G1 toy Thanks mate
