This is my first attempt at adding more articulation to a figure. I did the Cybertron Jetfire thigh swap/mod just in my way. For the pelvis I used a modded KO Laser Prime's waist, and connected that piece to Megatron's. Then added a ball joint to the neck.

I gave him a more Military paint job mixed a little G1/G2 Megs as well. He is still a work in progress.

I like the paint job. Does he still transform properly with that Laser Ops hip replacement? I found that the legs needed a really steep angle when they fold up for Tank mode, and the regular Jetifire hips got in the way. Did you have to carve up the Laser Ops hips at all?

He does transform properly the only thing the rear tread stick out a little wider now, but not by much. I did have to cut up the Laser Optimus' waist some. The inside edges are beveled to allow the legs to fold in all the way. Plus I flipped the waist upside down then cut the top/originally the bottom off, and attached the upper parts of the Armada Megatron's original waist piece to the new waist. I also had to hollow out the inside some to allow the torso/spine to slide in and lock into place. I hope that makes since I can take him back apart and try to take some descent pictures of the modified waist pieces if necessary. :)

That looks great so far. Even though it may not be a lot, the amount of articulation you added and the new colors improve it significantly.

very cool. I happen to work on the same figure yesterday, and swapped out new legs. I didn't have the same ones, and ended up doing a LOT of work getting new upper legs in there that worked.

Sure, if I remember correctly it's held on with a pin instead of a screw. I heated the pin with a soldering iron and it came right off.

great job on this guy, have done the leg swap before, but the laser op hips are a new twist, gonna give this guy a good look over to try figure out how you did it.

It really is a nice figure with the improved legs.

Holy CRAP that looks awesome. Armada megs has always been one of my favorite Megatron designs and toys, but the original one looks like junk compared to this guy. It's amazing what some basic leg articulation and a new paint job can do.

....I really need to do this to my Megs one of these days.

Hmm... I think I sort know what you did... no need to disassemble on my account. :)

In any case, it sounds like you have the same issue that I did ... the rear treads are now a little wider than before. Not really noticeable but it's there. It seems to be a tricky thing to remedy. It might just be because the Jetfire legs are much thicker than the skinny legs Armada Megs comes with.

I like the look of the new crotch piece. Good choice.

Heh... it's all about those Jetfire legs! There's still a bit of work involved getting them attached, but they have the basic structure required... and it used to be that there were a lot of spare Cybertron Jetfire's kicking around. I put a tutorial up last year. Cybertron Jetfire legs also work very well for Armada Tidal Wave.
