Credit to javaco for the inspiration on this one!

LOVE the character, hated the toy. javaco and the Prowl mold opened the door to having DoubleFace hang out with the Heralds where he belongs! (He was relinquished to the "drawer of toys who suck" for a long time...)

Well, I'm off to a good start. As I suspected, the sizes matched well enough that I was able to swap out the entire front end of the two bikes.

The end result is not *quite* as sexy as Prowl's original bike mode (But DoubleFace is a little more of a gritty guy anyhow), BUT doing it this way preserves all 3 head options as well as the faction-reveal gimmick, which was the ONE thing that was awesome about DoubleFace's original toy.

I went with the Samurai-version because I figured the swingy-shoulder-panels might make the mod a little easier to pull off, and well..SIDE CAR! Again, as I guessed, the Microns can actually ride in the side car very nicely. No more Bitch-seat for these guys!

Gotta decide how I want to arrange the Samurai-armor kibble in robot-mode though, not entirely happy with the default config...

Gotta clean up some of the hacking that was done to seperate Prow's original front, add, the arm-cannons, and then off to paint!

Armada sideways and animated prowl to be exact :p

BTW awesome mod! May I ask how difficult was it making sideways front fender fit on prowl?

Thanks! I give major props to Javaco (And I think whoever inspired him...) for coming up with the idea. I took it to the next level, but even though I've wanted to do SOMETHING to make a DoubleFace all along, Prowl never occurred to me :)

The armor bits are pretty cool, but giving the two microns proper places to ride is just too perfect!

Actually, it was really pretty easy. Cutting off the front of Prowl's bike was a bit of a PITA, but once that was done, I was able to affix the front of Sideway's bike with ZERO mods. I didn't even bother removing the ball from the back of it, it passed right into the cavity where prowl's head used to be.

It was like this mold was designed for this mod :)

The only challenge is that I suck and can't get Prowl's legs right for bike mode :lol

Yep, I can't get over that myself!

Next update, will do, for sure!

The combined rider sits pretty comfortably, but he has a little bit of an awkward leg-straddle going. But that's almost ALWAYS true of small-scale bike-riding action figures, so I'm not sweating it :)

*Extremely jealous that I dont have the Armada mold* I love the Armada version, and being a Sideways fan, I really need one of these.

Have they become hard to come by? I don't remember them ever being in short supply....and it's SUCH a terrible toy over all. I'm surprised that you'd be jealous ;)  Maybe I shouldn't have sliced mine up :lol

    Thanks!

So, how'd you change the front end? And also, is the new front end from an original Doubleface or something else?

    Nice work so far.

Thanks, and thanks again for the inspiration!

Yeah, I'm a little bothered by his lack of head articulation, but there's no way to add any without sacrificing some or all of his Headmaster/Dual-Faction godness, and preserving that was my whole goal, so I'll take the good with the bad :)

Disassembled as much as I could, and then simply hacked away at Prowl with the dremel. I was careful to not hit anything structurally-important, and just remove bike-front-parts.

Once I had seperated it I simply lined up the new front end against the remaining flat-area, and then pulled my ol' Super-Glue-And-Baking-Soda bonding trick to fuse the two together. It was really very easy.

And nope, just a garden-variety US Sideways, but I much prefer his Japanese name :)

THAT makes a lot more sense! :lol

I can't wait to see how he looks in paint. I think I'm going to go full-bore on the paint job in this guy :)

SWEET buddy! Another obscure character!! I love that I have to look this guy up!!! You're doing an outstanding job on this, dude. You really got some vision, I can't even come up with the things you stir up. You sir, should have never put down the dremel. You're a true Radicon Patron, I can't even dream about snatching that title from you!! :p

Well, by definition, I only get to play "Radicon Patron" as long as I keep paying other people to do the work for me, so I better be careful if I want to defend the title :p

And DoubleFace/Sideways isn't THAT obscure...where were you during Armada, under a rock :p

Glad you approve of the work so far, buddy, I KNOW you have a very discerning eye for customs, so a compliment from you is something I regard very highly!
