G1 Cartoon style ROTF OPTIMUS PRIME v2.0

I really liked the result of my previous G1 Style Prime, so I decided to revisit it, but this time I tried to give him an even more G1ish look.

Here's a breakdown of all the mods:
    * I removed his backpack, knees and forearms panels, I replaced those with other parts of the truck mode, for a bulkier look.

    * I gave him longer and thicker smokestacks and placed them on his super cool new shoulders (I used a truck model for those)

    * I used about 6-7 parts to form his new crotch piece (kind of a movie/G1 hybrid look)

    * 2 panels were added to cover all the excess of details on the sides of his torso.

    * His waist is now articulated, not 360 due to the red lever, but it does rotate.

    * The lever now only moves his head and not all the chest panels, to activate the electronic system (lights are not visible anymore, since the paint job covers al the translucid parts). I glued the chest panels, so they don't get loose when handling him.

    * I gave him a new truck grill, more G1ish than the movie one.

    * Back to his legs, I added rubber tires, mudflaps and gas tanks to complete the G1 look.

    * Fully articulated hands (courtesy of frenzy_rumble)

    * Interchangeable right hand to use the original grip hand to hold the...

    * G1 custom blaster rifle

And as a little nostalgic nod, I added a rub symbol on his chest.

The cell shaded paint job is very similar to the first one, but, at the same time, very different, since I added more details taken straight from Transformers: The Movie, and some details on his legs/feet from the G1 toy, also I airbrushed some shading on the red parts, for a deeper look.

That thing looks beast! I guess its missing an alt mode though? I see you thickened his legs a little, it does help with his overall massiveness :)

Another awesome piece, frogDNA! This looks much better than the first one.

Thanks to you I just had an idea. With a little modding ROTF Prime might make a good base for OP from IDW's new Transformers comic series.

    Thanks!

The huge rubber tires did the job ;)

    Thanks :D

    Thanks!
I'll be looking forward to see that!

    Thanks!
Speaking of Primal.. I'll be making a BW custom for my own collection soon :D

Definitely, I'm more of a bot mode fan, most of my clients never display them in alt mode, that's why I tried a different approach with this one. :)

    haha thanks!
well, getting rid of the alt mode is kind of a love it or hate thing :p

Awesome job. My only gripe is that rub-n-reveal Autobot logo. Just looks out of place. Love this, though!

Wow that looks so great. Like a couple others have said, with to mods you made and the cell shaded-like paint job he reminds me so much of the sweet new designs for the IDW ongoing Transformers series. You revealed the formula on how to get the figures to look like that style- Movie toy+ cell style shading+ extra styrene= Mike Costa and Don Figueroa-style transformers! I'll be looking forward to the upcoming BW customs you mentioned earlier in the thread.

Thanks! Never thought of it as an IDW look, might use some recent comic books as reference for future ideas!
About the BW customs, I think you might like the one I'm working on ;) ;)
