I really hated how Scalpel's legs were propped up in a permanent arachnid ballerina pose. I wanted him to be more spider-like in his stance, so I carved out a few grooves in the socket joints. While it's not perfect, I prefer the leg positions that I got with this mod much more than the original leg pose.
Nice little mod....I too was always bugged by the position of his legs. He looks more natural like this
I just tried it! It works nicely. Thanks! On mine, I popped the eyes out and painted the top of the stem with clear red, so that he has glowing red pupils.
I don't want to thread-jack. I'm still cleaning up the paint job. I'll post pics soon- with this leg mod- and proper credit given.
I used a fine point attachment on a wood burning tool to melt the plastic, then trimmed the melted plastic goop with an exacto and filed it down with a small file.
very cool, wondering if you were to cut even more into the back end of the socket if the legs can go even further upwards.
I was tempted to do that, but I didn't want to get into the little detailing "spike nodule thingy" on the socket. BTW, thanks to everyone for all the kind words about this mod. I've done customs before - Brimstone to Swoop, Wreck-Gar from a weird little ko type motorcycle and a Joker figure, Classics Seekers and Coneheads, etc. - but this is the first one that I've felt comfortable with posting. Thanks for welcoming me!!!
I see your point. ball joints are tricky, some are made only to allow the pegged part to move to certain location, others are more free moving.
