    Hey Everyone,

We are in the process of changing some things around with Radicons as a section overall, from layout to forum structure to staff to rules and guidelines.

As you can see, we've at least temporarily changed the forums to be more streamlined, and it's using the TFW2005 main skin.

In the mean time, we want your feedback. Please use this thread to sound off on what you like and don't like about Radicons as a whole:

    The radicons specific skin
    the way sub-forums are used
    the "Radicons front page"
    the prefixes used
the various "radicon specific rules" like requiring attachments
whether or not you liked or want back the image preview on posts
    Or anything else Radicons related

We can go any way here. We could put it back 100% the old way, layout and skin wise, or, we can leave it like this, or we can further reduce and simplify things. Up to you guys really.

You may discuss general like/dislike of the way things were handled here. But DO NOT reference specific events or staff members. Just what you would like to see change (or not change) with the overall way this area was modded, the general "tone". If you guys get flame-like, or too specific, I will shut that part down completely. We don't air mod business in public. But Im interested to hear general vibes.

    So let us know. Later!

As it currently is, it's too confusing.
I liked the old (6 hrs. ago) Radicons format.

That's cool, but could you be specific as to what is confusing here, and what you liked about the old way thats better.

I really liked the image preview. Before I looked at most, but not all customs. Now I'll have to open them all, and I know I'll be opening the same ones (that I wouldn't have normally) again and again each time somebody bumps it with a new post.

Everything else so far seems nice and clean and easy to look at.

By "sub-forums" do you mean "minor/repaint" and "heavy/scratch" ? If so, then I think they should go back to being separate, and where did "general discussion" and "commission requests" go ?

The image previews on all the threads have got to come back. Simply reading the title of the thread or who posted it doesn't tell me enough about what I'm gonna be seeing.

As for the rules, I've had no problem with them.

I also liked the image preview. Like the previous poster said, with preview pictures we can be sure we aren't going to open a thread we have already viewed, and if we wanted to go back to a specific thread for whatever reason, it would make that thread easier to find.

For example, let's say there are three custom Classics Megatron threads in the first 2 pages. Without image previews it's quite likely I'd miss one of the threads, thinking I've seen the customs before. With a preview picture beside the thread title, I'd know instantly whether or not I've already seen the custom.

hm.. IMO i honestly liked old way better.. it made the radicon section more unique.. and i actually liked how you can see a little thumbnail of the custom.. really catches the eyes for the viewers...

and to be honest.. wen i just came to the site right now it took me a while to realized where the radicon section was.. had to scroll down on the right side..

so anyway. i liked the old way.. it made radicons section more unique and special.. and different from just a forum .. =\

I like the image preview, and the various subsections. I would say kill the ranking system (stars) as it gives the ability for people to negatively grade others work, or vice versa. grade their own out of frustration.

I would like to see Discussion threads appear withe the Customs thread, as a lot of the time it's just difficult to remember to go in there. Perhaps the pages could go back to being longer (More Threads shown per page), as it kept threads from being bumped and missed so quickly.

Other than that, I'm happy. REALLY missed the previews, though, sir.

As someone who only started using the Radicons section in the last two weeks, I found it very easy to use. I definitely preferred the Radicon section being separate as I thought it was a big part of the site and something that really separated this forum from all the millions of TF forums out there.
The image preview is really, really needed!!!

Personally, I don't really like the Radicon section being lumped in with Fan Fiction, that could just be being a git because of me not liking fan fiction.

In wholehearted agreement that the section definitely needs the preview images - basically, it takes the gruntwork out of thread searching, and gives members a distinct idea of what each thread actually entails.

Also, having the prefixes is important, regardless of whether it's art or custom work, as they define exactly what is being done. Equally, I can understand why images need to be attached for archival purposes, especially if it's an old thread (such as a tutorial).

Piling the whole lot into a 'creative' section makes sense, but if it's not too impertinent, may I ask why wholesale changes were necessary in the first place?

I don't have much to add to this thread, just this: Preview images make this forum easier to browse. D: More actual understanding of what the thread is about, less blindly clicking every title that looks interesting.

Maybe if there was some sort of option a person could choose to turn off preview images for themselves... Like a setting option. But I'm no forum wiz, so I dunno how that would work.

The 6 hrs ago set-up was nice. As is now, it is much harder to find. There was no confusion on my part .. and I have only been using this site for 2 years. As others have said before, the descritive prefixes were very important.

For example, when i wanted to see repaints, i could find them, when i wanted to see scratch builds i could find them .. when i wanted "how to" forums I could find them.

Besides, the image preview made things more fun.

I LOATH the term minor repaints it only serves to confuse people that do not customize toys.

Unless there was a category named heavy repaints the term minor repaints serves poorly as a title for a certain type of custom.

instead you can just call it repaints

I think the actual term was 'minor/repaints' (correct me if I'm wrong), to specify minor modifications and/or repaints. I suppose you could break up the prefix to 'minor mods' and 'repaints', but I think the existing terminology is fine.

It has become almost impossible to surf the forum without the image previews.
