Rampage - standing on 2 legs - NEW tutorial on p3

What would you think about a Rampage that can stand on two legs without the help of his backpack ??

Rampage is easy one of my favorite transformers designs in robot mode but the fact that he wasn't able to stand properly kept annoying me. I did like the idea that he walks as a spider but I didn't see that in the movie (or at least i can't remember).

so after a few weeks I decided to make it possible for him to stand on two legs. after a lot of tinkering I figured it out so ... good for me.

Other new features are:

o wrist joints / elbow movement
o individual leg movement
o extra hip joint

It took me about four moths to wrap this one up , making it work and painting it. ( Not 24 -7 of course )
This is obviously a complete repaint, the main color is the type of orange used on most construction vehicles, although caterpillars are usually yellow I think.
Ive seen a lot of red repaints of Rampage but personally I like this orange better, it feels more accurate for a bulldozer. I have never had the pleasure of seeing a red bulldozer although I'm sure they exsist.

All the small parts are in different shades of grey, silver and black

I applied three different washes, so everything blends together better.
Black = bring out the details
sandbrown = making him a little pale
brown = making him look a little dirty without trying to overdo it (i wanted him to feel used but not muddy)

I drybrushed with silver, grey , an a lighter type of orange to scratch him up.
this might not be visible on the pictures very well because of the size here. checkout the detail of the logo and you know what I mean.
I think it is important not to make the scale of your scratches too big it makes the model look smaller. the drybrush layer was done with old / crap brushes they usualy give good scratch results.

The vehicle mode gets a 4 /10 for me ,
Parts that stay loose and annoy, usseles parts, his ass that doesnt close right, all that crap on the side of the threads... it just smells like bad designing. For me the transformation of Rampage is no fun. I don't plan on transforming him a lot in the future.
The transformation does still work after all these tweaks , but ... Personally I would not recommend this tweak to someone who likes to transform him, It does make transformation even harder. And some partsforming might be nessecary...

I hope you enjoy this one as much as i did. Iwould certainly be interested to read your thoughts about this custom.

Yeah...looks like he is potentially free standing in a couple of pictures the rest looks like he is leaning. Could you give a little more insight on the mod? I'd love to try it, good paint apps btw

do you paint rampage in robot form, or vehicle? I'm going to custom mine, but I've never done it before, I wasn't too sure if the painting begins once transformed or not.

Your paint work looks fantastic. One can tell you put some time into just the paint work itself....and it paid off IMO

And its cool to see him standing on two legs instead of four. Please do share this mod, I'm sure there are some that would like to duplicate it for themselves.

for you unstrusting lot...
please point out what it is you think he's leaning against.

please note that due to my crap flash on my cheap camera the colors are darker than the way they look for real. the pictures in the original post have the colors exactly the way they are.

I understand the point, in some shots due to the shadow it looks like he might be leaning. Normally I take pictures on a large plane. But currently I had no room to use it so I used a white piece of paper leaned up against a computer screen... doh ! I hope these shots show you that he actually stands on his own.

I usually start with the vehicle color to get the color nice and even in alt mode, then take him appart and paint everything else
