this is a preview of my first serious custom of the very awsome Warthog LRV! his body is from an extra transmetal optimus i got in a lot. but the big pay off was that i had a 7 inch odst figure from halo 2, and a remote control warthog i got new for 25. the odst was a perfect size for use of his head for character accuracy and i plan on giving my bot all his guns including a combat knife, battle rifle (deceptions are in trouble) a pistol, and shot gun. all quite accurate with his alt mode. please tell me what you think! more pictures on last page, uploading doesnt go well for me
Im having some trouble with the back kibble, I want to callapse the 3 panel peices sticking up on the back and im still tossing around ideas. it seems too ugly to leave alone.
About the back kibble, you could buy some small hinges from the Home Depot and screw them in after cutting up the back kibble to better collapse into one another, sort of like ROFL Sideswipe... - Alty
i like to stick with plastic its light and can glue/melt well. the two side panels are going to be cut off and hing on the bottom foot part to be the ankle support.
update something i thought was neat i got some nail polish remover cuz i heard it seizes up joints which i dont think it does very much but it does strip off colour from vacuum metalized plastic. plus small portions of his left arm, hips, and neck, are painted silver now with ma infamous silver sharpie.(check out my universe megatron completely painted with a silver sharpie) crazy light effect on those abs of chrome steel
first steps UP-diggity-date my bot here has wheels, his legs are split and all his alt mode panels now connect. Only thing thats left is to align and fix his wheels' parts. i will be painting him green and black and im going to be using a green fine tip sharpie on the chest so it can keep its shine (the sharpie ink is very thin and creates only one possible coat to help keep the sheen). I may be changing his head to a Spartans Mark IV helmet scale permitting once it gets here (came with limited edition active cammo mcfarlane 3 inch ) and that will REALLY make this fig. his sawed off BR is neat but far too small for such a husky hoora ready bot. so although not shown in the pics he has a scale halo shotgun and the warthogs turret which i will fabricate a handle for, plus a Rambo-tastic sheathed combat knife (also from the ODST fig) that i will put on his chest. the first transformers i know of with a sheithed blade to be held rather than pop out and to top it all off. His name Is Iron-sight.
haha, thanx... i kinda thought ppl would have more to say but i geuss its all about the character presence. boo-erns.
"are you saying boo or boo urns?" classic. this is coming along very nicely....are you going to paint is that flat green llike on the halo edition 360's?
I had a daylight picture of the cheif and tried to match the best i could. but it was terrible poster paint. its dallor store craft green mixed with dallor store black : / I geuss i did a decent job mixing but im going to get some paint thinner and order some real paint online and make a better attempt but for now he`s not too bad a halo green. the black isnt even paint its dallor store sharpie. like BW dinobot said "when in doubt, improvise." then when it rubs off on your hands when your fixing it you buy model paint off the internets.
