Thanks! Glad you like the head and I agree--it's great seeing how versatile this mold can be (and has been). It's starting to gain on the Classics Mirage mold's uses. | TRue I'd even go so faras to say it could go further, if built up it could do quite well for Trailbreaker (thought about doing this but at this moment it's far beyond what I can accomplish. simply don't have the time of resources) Fight Retard Robot Life updated 04th July update coming shortly, camera found and images edited as I type. |

I had a junker Kup sitting on top (okay, somewhere near the top... ) of my pile of projects. I thought something like this might be possible, but you've gone and proved it! You're killing me here with this and your Skyfire bashes! Kick ass!
I'm a little confused... are there 2 different molds of Kup's head? My old one only has a "half head" that's flat on the back. How did you get the full head to hollow out and insert the Towline head into?
Also, that Kup chest section is die-cast, right? Is that going to affect the balance of the figure when attached to a Classics Sunstreaker infrastructure?

zmog | Thanks, guys! I'm glad you guys are diggin' this. This is on hold until I finish up a few smaller customs projects, but I'm itching to get back on this soon.
As for the head, I took two G1 Kup heads (from junkers) and hollowed out one of them, leaving the helmet and head crest thing. I then hollowed out the other the same way, then took the Energon Towline head and shaved down the side of it just a bit (leaving it flat and smooth). I inserted the head into the now open helmet of the G1 Kup head, then took the other hollowed out helmet of the other Kup head and attached it over the back of the E. Towline head. I glued the two helmet halves together and once it was dry, I took my dremel and cut off the back of the head to make it more flat (this needs to be fixed with some thin sheet styrene or sculpting putty at a later date). As for hollowing out the helmets of the G1 Kup heads, I just used the dremel to cut out/grind out the face first, then the back of the old G1 heads, then I dropped the speed down and slowly went in side the head to hollow it out to a thin shell so that it could house the E. Towline head. Basically, if you could take the G1 helmet halves off, you'd still have the full E. Towline head in your hands.
Yeah, the chest is diecast, but I don't see any issues arising from using it. I think the legs being reinforced and given the knee articulation, I think it should be fine. I usually just go with the flow and trial & error everything. If it doesn't work in the end, you'll see a scratchbuilt chest instead. Part of the diecast will be cut off around the top (where the old G1 head was attached), so that should also help take out some of the weight. I'll keep you guys updated on it though. Thanks again for the support, everyone! |
