Really some impressive work here TS. I love what you've got thus far. I still can't get over the fact that you're making a bike out of a truck!!
The bike out of truck thing gets me too! hXc- These MP scale bots kick my butt man! I love them when they're done, but they really boss me around while I'm workin' on them! It's a good thing that Wreck-Gar is such an easy going guy, but he is a little creepy at night.
So, after some workplace and Halloween distractions over the past two weeks, I'm back with updates. I've given him a spray of rusty primer and a coat of red on his chest, to give a better impression of his final look, but I still have to buy a bunch of orange and tan. The legs still need work too, but the arms and torso are shaping up. His chest guns will be attached soon. Other than that, whaddya you think?
Thanks guys! Halloween influences me year-round! In this case I think I was channeling a bit if Jamie Hewlett. For anyone who's curious, I did the teeth by sculpting them first and then building the lips around them. I made them rounder than I normally would to emphasize Wreck-Gar's difference from other Transformers. That and because he's a little crazy. I didn't want a small mouth that might get lost behind the big big facial hair I'm going to be adding very soon.
Kelvin asked me to pull the expression back a bit and to do the beard as a sculpted detail. Once the face is sanded, I'll be adding the new beard. Here's a shot of the current progress and the reference.
I've got the new beard and a bit more paint on. The color scheme is a combination of cartoon and toy accuracy with a little artistic license. I think the flames on the front are well in keeping with the Junkion vibe. I'm detailing the sides of the legs now. Those wheel wells can be a real pain to cover up. The front of the legs just need plates covering the shins and some knee pads. I'm still making revisions, so please let me know what you think.
Thanks! That was my first thought, but I went with thread for it's styleability and ease of tuck-away-ness. The cable's not wire though. It's actually a soft material called jelly chord. It's for bracelet making, but it makes perfect cables. You can find it in the jewelery making isle of craft stores.
where the heck have I been!!! I still think the beard is too tame. I was hoping you'd use the twist ties that come with newer tf's as his mustache. they could just bend back. but Kelvin's the boss.
Twist ties would make a good beard too, but I'm no sure how well they would hold paint after flexing a few times. Wire dipped in colored Plasti-Dip could work too. Thanks again for the kind words gents. Bellyboy, you'll have to fight it out with Kelvin and he's Australian, so good luck to you there!
about the beard u can always dipp some of those metal cables that tf comes wrapped in them in liquid rubber it turns really nice i think that kyle robinson has a tutorial in his website for that How To Make Symbiot Tendrils
