O-k so this is my latest crack at Blackout, going for broke 1:18 scale on this one! Core figure is "Pro-Bots Payton Manning" figure from TRU, Helo parts are a "True Heros" Blackhawk, helo , hands and feet, so far are roller droids from Star Wars, and a random neo shifter head is just a place holder for now. I really wanted to make a transformable version of this bot I'm just not there yet maybe next time. Loads more details to add and even out, wires, more helo shell, etc. Oh and almost forgot Scorponok sits snuggly on his back and will be included in the repaint. Let me know what you guys think any suggestions are welcome!
Absolutely right Bee92! I can already see how much this is goin' to blow the hell out of Qatar or any other place it goes too!!!
Why can't Hasbro do lots of things.... Anyway, I saw one of these NFL bots at my local TRU and debated getting one for myself to try out. How are they? What's the plastic like...does it look like it'll hold paint well?
Thanks for the support guys getting feedback really pushes me to get these guys done quicker. Its pretty tough and the joints are solid I really had to gouge out the feet and leg joints to give him a wider arc of movement and after reconnecting him at the waist I know I have to do even more now. I was looking at him on the desk earlier and I though his feet look too small anyone else see this or am I being anal?
It's hard to tell. I'd have to see it progress a little more before I can give my thoughts on the foot size.
I'd say they are a little narrow. but nothing some "toes" on the sides of the feet can't fix. It's looking good though. It's deceiving on how big it is. i wouldnt' have guessed it was taller than prime if you hadn't put it side by side. Randy!
haha yeah but not just any Prime, its super combined mode Prime with two extra inches! thanks! he's maxed out height-wise almost 14 inches.
I see your making good use of those NFL Probots legs. I too have them in use for a couple projects. My only gripe with them is their lack of a thigh rotation joint. I keep eyeballing that Black Hawk at my local TRU but haven't committed to this build just yet ( that True Heroes F22 keeps getting my attention too ) Your Blackout is gonna be awesome !!
I was looking at them again this morning if you sliced them off completely just above the knee you could probably build in a strut to hold a magnet on each side, or an internal swivel joint..I'm not going to bother at this point since Ive already put on a lot more kibble.
I should be putting paint on him this weekend and more pics before then to show off the added details. So hopefully I'll have him up at auction by Monday or Tuesday *fingers crossed*
