QUESTION: Is it possible to replace the head of ROTF Voyager class Whirl with that of 2007 Movie Deluxe class Payload?
| One said it was possible the other said it was not. Thanks to me it is, and here’s how I did it:
FIRST:
Using my rotary tool, I screwed off and removed the vehicle mode cockpit/robot mode chest area piece by piece chest, cut offed the plastic part in the middle that kept his old head in place and drilled a hole through that very spot.
SECOND:
I removed Payload’s head from its base and the connecting rivet from his head using the claw end of a hammer. After removing the rivet, I used a drill to make the rivet hole large enough to fit a small screw from an old figure. The butt of the screw had to be cut off and the screw itself had to be sanded off enough so that it could keep the head in place without the risk of it popping of. Once that was done, the screw was place on his head.
THIRD:
I cut offed the chin of Payload's head to make the bottom flat so it could fit right on top as I manually screwed the head in place. Once that was done. I screwed back on all of the parts and it was done. An ROTF Voyager class Whirl with a one-eyed head, just like his G1 predecessor. |

And all things are possible, it's just a matter of how much effort you're willing to put in, extra points for perseverance on this one!
