yes, another ROTF Tracks from Sideswipe, but it works so well. This character SHOULD have been Tracks. Finally got around to finishing this, its just been sitting around my shelf only needing hte missiles and some stickers. I was originally going to airbrush the flames onto the hood and after several failed attempts, I gave up. If you saw my thread on how to give Rampage metal pistons, you saw Tracks in the background. I had tried to make a stencil out of the G1 stickers and I just was never pleased with the detail of the stencil itself, the stickers were fine. So I just went ahead and used the stickers. Here is what the original paint job looked like: You can see some glue left over from the tape and sticker paper I was using for my stencil. Like I said, I just wasn't pleased with it, maybe another time. I used a set of G1 Tracks rocket launcers and attached them with REM's. Even though Sideswipe is bigger, I thought the G1 launchers work well with him, same goes for the stickers, but I feel a better sticker set could be created specific to this mold. The license plate is worth picking up a set from Reprolabels. I painted the windows black because they were not getting as clear as I would like them. My hat's off to Strata for getting his so clear, you have way more patience than me man, I'm jealous of his results, but black works well too. If I were to do it again, there would a few things I would change. I need to sink the rear magnet lower or find a smaller magnet, as is, it makes the rear hood not want to go all the way down. I would also be more selective of the toy in the package, this one does not want the hood to come together flush. Hope you like him.
Awesome! Glad to see that I'm not the only one who couldn't get the windows clear like Strata. =) Great job overall. Since you've done pretty much exactly what I've done or are finishing doing now (great minds think alike, eh?), I see that magnet is a little large. Is there really that much clearance under the trunk? I'm waiting to get a hold of a missile rack but it seemed that there wasn't enough room for a magnet under there.
Very clean and a very sexy tracks. Its a wonder that they never made this an official repaint sans the missles. BTW what did you use to make the backpack and missles? Great job!
None of my projects are ever finished, but this figure is at a good stopping point now. Its been sitting on my shelf since the beginning of summer with only hte missiles and stickers needing to be finished, I decided to finish him up today. The magnet makes the back end stick up around 1mm or so, enough to be annoying. When the missile pack is on there, its not that noticable A better way around it would be to put a thinner magnet or something ferrous that is thin enough to get the clearance while still attracted to the magnet. They are the G1 Tracks missiles. You can probably find a set on eBay for a few bucks.
Thanks I literally did 5 to 10 minutes more worth of work since you last saw him to get him finished. Its like the Apathy Couch from the Temple made its way into my house.
I'm still not a fan of the flat white and red faces on these, but this is definitely the best executed ROTF Tracks I've seen yet. Great job

Would you prefer the black face like the original art? I thought about doing that, but I was trying to match up to his G1 toy and cartoon counterpart. I was trying to figure out a way to get it to work and was just drawing a blank. Once the red version comes out, I'll probably make another one that looks like the Diaclone version of Tracks, I may revisit the wings idea, at least in bot mode.
