UPDATED 4/8/2010 WITH NEW PICS .

    Hey all :)

Im workng on another side project while my others are on hold till i get the things i need. I got a KO Kabaya Metroplex that im going to paint to make him right and not the crap brown and black that he is molded in.

So this will be my thread for this project. The last time i painted some of these kits the paint looked like crap. Does anyone have any tips for painting these kits ? I dont like useing enamel paints because of the smell and the stuff you have to use to clean out brushes , it's just a mess. I want to use acrylics my Airbrush instead.
I read you have to soak these kits in soapy water or something before you paint them?

Im also going to try and make Scamper,Six-Gun and Slammer out of some scraps . Sixgun may be the easiest to make by using a KO micromaster or something, the other two im not sure on yet.

I also got to thinking that a box would look pretty cool for him so i worked one out. I think it came out pretty well, i just have to make a bubble or foam insert for the box to hold him once he is finished. I will also be doing a Trypticon repaint later.

    SMALL UPDATE TONIGHT 9/5/09

I took a KO micromaster sixwing figure that had a pretty decent upper body that looked almost like the G1 Six Gun figure. I left the arms on so he didnt just have guns for arms and i mounted the guns to his shoulders instead. Everything is held together with blue tac right now till i can work out a better way to hold the parts on without gluing anything since he has to come apart for metroplex. I did a quick digibash of him in the G1 colors. I had a problem converting the blac arms to white so they look a bit off but the painted version will be normal. Have a look :)

Ok so enjoy the pics and any suggestions you may have for anyhing would be appreciated :)

    Thanks :)

I really like your work, but I've never been a fan of the newer artwork on the oldschool type packages (even with the Hasbro reissues). Takara pulled it off because they used a totally different box. Anyways, that's my opinion for what it's worth.

Keep up the good work :thumb

Yeah I was going to go with the old school art but couldnt find a usable image of the front of the g1 box. All i found was the toy image. So i just made the front and added the DW metroplex. Was pretty much a bordom project and was never really planed lol..

Well i finally got around to painting up my Mini Metroplex. I still have a few touchups to do and need to paint his face. Then i have to find a good sealer so the paint doesnt scratch off him. If anyone can suggest a good sealed so paint dont scratch off a kabaya kit i would be thankful :) .

I took him complete apart and gave each piece a lite sanding to scuff up the plastic surface. Then i airbrushed each piece. took about 2 days of painting on about 3 coats i think i ended up doing. When i get it sealed up ill be printing some decals for him to really bring him to life. Here are some pics of him :)
    Enjoy

After this i will be painting my Mini Trypticon and Fort Max.
