This was the Tetrajet version of Acidstorm I did based on the Cybertron Starscream Supreme figure, 50% scratch-built. The first thing I did was replace the original led for the eyes with a red one and a smaller battery. I then went with a black Krylon fusion base paint then misted over it with a flourescent green acrylic spraypaint. It stayed dark enough for normal lighting, but heavy enough to glow pretty bright under blacklight. After everything was painted and drybrushed, I lightly misted the robot mode with a glow-in-the-dark acrylic spraypaint that still allowed him to glow a little even without the blacklight. I'm now taking commissions on these guys.

    That is CRAZY!!!
So awesome! Because I love glow in the dark a lot... heh. The color work very well, in the dead of space type green... much better than piercing neon.

    Great job!

Its so good that this is my second post here. What I like is also the Green Glow and how it resembles the G1 Cartoon bright green look of the tv show.:rock

Thanks very much everybody, I'm glad you like how he came out! I didn't know what to expect when I started applying the green on the black, but I did know I wanted a different feel; a darker, more ominous-looking Acidstorm than what we're accustomed to seeing.

The first thing that comes to mind when I think of Acidstorm would be his ability to create a flourescent, glowing, toxic chemical that would eat through anything...(except Chip's wheelchair :D ) I wanted to implement that effect either through his overall paint apps or his drybrushing detail, or even both.

Thanks man, and to think I totally forgot about the Transformers from the late 80's up until around 2005 when I started my first Devastator kitbash, and I finally got my Tetrajets after all these years. I got sidetracked with the usual stuff...girls, video games, cars, etc.....

No problem, it's Rustoleum's Flourescent neon-green from Home Depot. Depending what shade you're going for, be VERY selective about your basecoat, as I found this green is extremely sensitive to the basecoat you use...experiment with it first...

I'm looking for a dark green effect like you have achieved here with Acidstorm. I'm customizing a MP SS to look like a Air-to-Surface bomber with green (GLOW!) camo. How would I achieve that? Thanks a lot.

I keep the can about 6-8 inches away from the surface and start spraying away from the figure and quickly go back and forth over the high spots first. Don't point the tip directly at the figure, but spray it at an angle. If you spray it directly it will go on too thick. You just want a light shade of green to go on it, and you don't want to hold the can too far back either because it applies more like a powder instead of paint, and it will wipe off and not stick.

You can take a plastic bottle or any old object and experiment on it first till you perfect it, because you definitely don't want to experiment on the toy and have to clean a mistake off of the toy. I did that before and did a lot of cursing too! :banghead:  ha ha!

Love your Seekers...they look great. It's curious why Hasbro never gave us a figure like this...

This was really well thought out. I love the tetrajets. Its amazing how much that starscream mold gets used for it too. But man, you took it and really ran with the details. Great job.

Thanks man. It's hard to say why they never made a toy for this, probably because it's tough making a robot out of a triangular alt mode...but then again, Dewbot came from a rectangular alt-mode! :D  The real beauty of it all is, even after I did all the extensive modding, there was only one extra step added to the transformation of the original toy.
