OMG that is so Awsome look perfect! Great job mate Did you have to do any mods? or was it just a re-paint?
damn! runs to get one of my two McButt figures. Never thought of that! He looks perfect! BTW, did u paint the fig's rifle? Can we at least have a shot of him holding it?
Wow! Thanks for all the kind words, everyone! I'm so glad to see people love the old cheeky bastard as much as I do. I was actually a bit nervous to post this thread, since he's really just a repaint of a Chap Mei figure...not half as impressive as the crazy kitbashed stuff you guys normally cook up on here! I'm humbled by the positive response. I had so much fun setting up Chumley's lair and shooting these mood photos. I'm debating continuing the "story" in another series of photos or maybe even a stop-motion video sometime in the future... Now if only I could find a good 3 3/4" base figure for Dinsmoore... Any ideas? Haha! I'm glad someone caught that. I couldn't decide what else to do with it...until I quickly scanned my room and saw Chumley standing nearby and it all clicked. An old, broken cordless phone battery provided the wires. Will do! I wasn't sure if there was a limit on the number of images to post. Ha! Yeah, I was originally just going to repaint the hair, sideburns, eye and mustache, since the sculpt is so spot-on. But my wife saw the images from the G1 episode and said "no, you have to take this all the way, clothes colors and all." She was SO right! As soon as I saw the tan color applied to the shirt, I knew this was a winner. Ask and ye shall receive. Here's the legendary description on the original McButt toy, typed out word-for-word: "There's danger in Dino Valley! After 65 million years, an earthquake in darkest Africa has opened the Gates of Dino Valley and released dinosaurs into the modern world. These ancient creatures range from the vicious Spinosaurus to gentle but deadly Stegosaurus. And there to hunt them is the evil scientist Dr. Skinnybones McButt and his wicked helpers Max Warthog and Dirty Dan Dee. But there to protect them is King Zulu, whose tribe has kept the dinosaurs secret for ten thousand years. King Zulu has to call on the help of Wild Animals Rescue Squad (WARS), including Chief Running Bear and Alex Aqua. Together, they have to get the dinosaurs back into the valley before they are hunted and killed by McButt - or by each other!" I LOVE how the acronym for the peace-loving animal protection squad is 'WARS.' And the names for McButt's minions are also quite special: Max Warthog, of course, wears a headpiece made from a dead warthog. Dirty Dan Dee looks like your typical wild west outlaw...except he wears a lion's head split in two as an open vest. I'm almost tempted to find more figures from this bizarre line. HEY! NO SPOILERS IN THIS THREAD! I was hoping people would spot all the various sci-fi references I placed in Chumley's collection. I'll post the wide shot of the entire room. Unfortunately, I didn't have any Predator or Alien toys handy, which is too bad, as they would have made brilliant trophies! Just a repaint. The original sculpt was frighteningly dead-on. It just needed a lot of help in the paint department. I was debating cutting off the adventurer hat and sculpting some hair to really match his appearance from the cartoon, but after I saw the paint applied I didn't feel the need. This is more of a "Chumley after the original episode" sort of thing anyways. His dashing new revenge gear. Whoa! You have not one, but two McButt figures!? That's awesome! I never even knew about this toy line until a few weeks ago. Do you have more figures from the line? Oh, I didn't do anything special to the gun - just two coats of silver metallic acrylic. I'll see if I can take a few shots soon, though.
Perfect because i just bought a Dr. Skinnybones McButt and will be turning him into Lord Chumley also, since yours work out so well!
Haha! Good show! He's the size of your typical 1:18 / 3.75" figure (G.I. Joe, Star Wars, etc.), not really in scale with the classics figures, I'm sad to say. He looks pretty good near the Optimus Prime candy container head, however.
I would think an Alfred figure from a Batman line might work for Dinsmoore. Or any other butler-type in scale to be honest... Now, how about... Shawn Berger Chip Chase Raoul Marissa Faireborn (put those Kiss Players away...) Dirk Manus Dr. Fujiyama, the famous scientist The football coach from Triple Threat
I didn't see you got him at CVS, my wife sends me there last night, and this McButt fella came home with me. Hope you don't mind a copycat, this idea is too good to pass up!
This is awesome. Great find man! I scan that CVS toy section on a regular basis, but I missed that one! If I see Dr. McButt, I'm definitely picking one up. And you've finally given me a good use for that damn candy holder Prime Head that I've had sitting in a drawer for over a year! I LOVE obscure G1 references!
