Reason it's lazy is because I'm using Swerve as a base. I'm using Universe Sideswipe's head, slightly modified (see pictures). I'm trying to figure out a way to get the head to fit, as the ball joint for Swerve's head is smaller than for Universe Sideswipe. I should have an update later this week (need to get out and get some white paint).

Nice. I made similar mods to my Classic Sideswipe head, just because it made him look more G1 overall. I much prefer it this way.

It's funny, but even after Alternators and Classics, Has/Tak has yet to do a Sideswipe homage that actually looks much like him. Weird. :)

I think it looks plenty like him.

I disagree. Some of the elements are there, but they are not assembled in a way that really recalls the overall form and proportion of the original.

Looking at this red version, you can see some of the detail better.

On the Classics version, the large, sloped cheekguards (one of the more distinctive aspects of this mold) are gone, while the "horns" are much bigger, without the discrete angle of the shorter originals. The face is much flatter, much larger overall, and lacks the subtle smirk that the G1 version has.

And I really don't know where those weird jutting parts on either side of his jaw came from in the Classics mold. They just look off to me.

I'd rather have a sized-up version of the G1 headsculpt any day. I think it's a much more interesting shape overall.

Not trying to hijack your thread, but after searching the threads this one seems to be the most relavent to my question.

I wanted to make a G1-deco'd ROTF Sideswipe using a Swerve body as well. The only difference is I was just going to swap Swerve's head with a ROTF Sideswipe head and add some black detailing to it. Do you know if the two ROTF heads are easily interchangeable? I've never modded a Transformer before, so thanks for any help/advice you can provide.

Would the crazy glue trick work? Adding a little bit of glue until it's tight enough to fit.

Does anyone know how hard it is to get ROTF Sideswipe/Swerve's heads off? I don't wanna break it!

Should be easy. You just need a small screwdriver to remove the screw in the back of his head. From there you can pop the 2 halves of the head apart to get it off the balljoint. Then screw them back together over the neck balljoint on the Swerve figure, and you're done. :)

I don't have Swerve, but since the only apparent difference in the mold is the head, there shouldn't be any trouble swapping the heads between them.

Are you sure? The screw on the back of the head looks like it just holds the light piping piece on. It doesn't look like it holds the head onto the ball joint...

    I appreciate the assistance/advice!

I did the head swap last night and it's a simple ball joint. You don't need to unscrew anything- the head pops right off just like a GI Joe or DC Universe...

or you can just pull/pop it off the ball joint. saves ALOT of time.

Huh. Well, don't I feel silly.

I tried to simply pull the head off mine, but there was enough resistance that I didn't follow through.
