Anyone know where I can get a head mounted (strapped) digital camera?
Like the type used when skydiving? I want to get one to make 1st person tutorial videos, and can't seem to find anything online.

I've thought about ghetto-rigging the one I have now if I can't find anything better...

sort of like this hands free cell phone

I don't know of any one that makes video reviews with a head mounted camera, and a tutorial wouldn't really be too much different, I wouldn't think.

I actually saw a really cool rigged one using a standard webcam. They took one of the LED head bands and gutted the light and put the camera inside that. Worked really well to. Keep us updated!

thanks for the leads. Those seem very foreign to me. I was hoping for a camera w/ some HD on it, or something direct to my PC, though I need to look through the links more...

thought about that, however I really want the camera to focus on what I focus on, sometimes if the center of the screen is the focal point, I'll be more successful at conveying exactly where I am. For example, if I am painting an eye, I want the camera centered on that eye.

That's and awesome idea....plus those are hard wired right to my PC, and I can save the file as I record it. Thanks!

You could rig an old iSight to your head :)

Try looking for helmet cams. Xtreme sports (snow- skate- wakeboarding etc) There is a big range of head cams.

My helmetcam makes thinks look considerably further away than what they are, moreso than using the DVcam. Its something to do with the lens angle but I cant remember the specifics. I know you can get different angle lenses for them though.

yeah i would google helmet cam, they are well priced, and though a little ungainly for your uses (who needs a helmet when customizing?) it should do what your looking for and not break the bank.
