Just checked it out. Actually, that is a very good comparison. It wasn't inspired by, but its fairly similar. I really like that look. Hopefully others will too!
First post updated with more pics. Torso and legs partially assembled. Legs are unpainted/missing detail, but should offer an idea of pose and size. Arms to follow.
This is progressing nicely Jon5000. That kit is some hard plastic to cut, you're doing great so far man. This will look incredible with the way you are preserving the auto details. I agree with Andy about the small, Alternators-Subaru shoulder cut. Somebody had a Jazz custom with the doors folded down along the back for a more G1 toon feel, that is definitely do-able here since you can mount them any way you want for coolest visual (and non-transforming) effect. Just a thought.
First post updated with yet more pics on progress. Slowing down a bit lately, had a lot to do outside of my new found hobby - and this is a surprisingly time consuming build. I think because its not an original character, like that which I have previously done, I've had to spend more time getting things 'accurate'. Still, its all a big learning curve. Still no head though! Had a go at casting the other day (for an Optimus Primal sculpture I'm working on) and that worked out ok, so may go ahead with that. And his robotic bits need a little more filling in places. And - don't worry - the arms are nowhere near complete!
Argh sooo close to finishing this guy apart from 1 thing - THE HEAD!! Question for those who make custom head sculpts - what is the best way to go about it? With regards to the alternators Jazz , I can't find one anywhere - so thats kinda out of the question. I thought I'd be able to get a friend of mine to machine it for me, but looks like thats fallen through...
I'm glad to see you get back on this, been keeping an eye on this for updates. It's too bad about the CAD sculpt, i was looking forward to that. In regards to the head sculpt, since I am no expert, not even a beginner, check out the tutorials under Radicons Resources. It's pretty useful, hopefully that will give you an idea. Good luck, man!
Hmmm, not sure really. While this isn't a movie-verse custom as such, I still want to present it in the realism associated with that line. Actually, the one thing I haven't thought of is the movie-Jazz figure for a head. Although, it might be a bit small. Voyager size would be ideal.
Nice updated pics!! I freakin love it so much already even without the head! Imagine when you actually do have a head! MY head goes kaput! Alt mode next please, i love me a Martini Racing 935 lol!
Woohoo, I've made a head! Managed to get hold of an Alternators Jazz and casted it off that. Yay! So expect a final update soon. Gotta get started on his diorama stand!
First page updated with head pics. Just gots to get me some hands now! Sorry for the poor quality of the pics, taken with phone cam. Expect full hi res gallery by end of week!
