So I put this under Heavy/Scratch, because it did take an aweful lot of modding, basically, I had to take the whole thing apart and put it all back together differently Anyways, I'll start with the 3 pictures im attatching, the first is of the official Hasbro promo shot. The second is of what the animation model looks like (though the final version varies slightly) and my toy after I did all the mods Basically what i didn't like about this figure that made me want to do all this, was first the legs looked backwards, and second, his back sits way too high, making him looked too hunched over, and his wings wont really pose like they do in the movie. not to mention the ugly windshield that hangs below his crotch. I couldn't actually make him look better without screwing up the transformation, so I'll get that out now, he won't turn back into a car, unless I reverse all the mods they are reversable how ever. you just need a screw driver to transform him now lol Now According to the movie, the black fenders are suppose to be on the inside of the legs, so I just popped the lower legs off the thighs, removed the screws that held on the wheels/fenders and swapped it all, then put the lower legs back on. that was my first mod. The second mod I did was to get rid of the windshield, and obviously I didn't want to jut snap it off, so I could eventually put him back into a car. So if you look at the windshield there are 3 hinges pinned to the orange piece. I cut the middle hinge right out, and simply forced the other two hinges just enough, so they would pop off each side of the pin. Simple enough mod, remove the middle black hinge, and pop the windshield/hood piece off compeltely, put it in a drawer. The 3rd and final mod I did was the arms. I removed the entire door/arm parts off the back, and ended up flippign the back piece upside down, than how it is suppose to be transformed. His back now sits upside down crunched together nicely without the windshield in the way, and I put the doors back on the wrong sides and upside down as well. Now that the doors are reveresed, I also had to reverse so the arms, so they pop off easily enough, and I reverse them, and voila!! you have a still ugly as hell, but more accurate looking deluxe skids! I might paint some of those msising details later too, just to give him the extra touch. thanks for looking!
it looks really good. i just hate how it cant transform back. im sure with alot more thought you can get it to work somehow.
Yeah, the not being able to transform back to a car, kind of kills it for me. but hey if it works for you....
It does look much better, too bad you can't TF him back into a car. As for the fenders being on the inside of the legs - you can simply rotate his legs so that his shins face backwards in robot mode. The fenders will be on the inside of his legs without removing anything
Looks better but not being able to transform sucks. But it looks like now there is room to really make it accurate or detailed. The only thing I would do differently is change the lags back because I like the wheels outside the legs instead of inside but I do like how you have the wheels angled. I keep mine like that. Can you post pics from behind?
nah, doens't look as good that way, cuz then its just all facing backwards, instead of mirrored. I want mine to look as close to the movie as possible
Wait... if this can't transform anymore, why not just go with a RR, or did you do this all in a non-permanent way, so you could still transform him if you wanted to?
if I want to put him back into a car, I just have to unscrew the rear doors, and the fenders on the legs, and reverse them again, as well as pop the windshield back on, then he'll be a car, just as he was before I didn't actually wreck anything on the toy, just simply took it apart and put it back together a different way.
