He's a product of Nemesis Prime, but not a Prime. Following the naming according to the Animated series, where there was a Rodimus Minor, this guy's called Nemesis Minor. (I also had the name Urban Legend, but it was just too cheesy). I had so much problems with this figure, I'd almost call it a failed project. Even though the painting is not as good as I'd hoped, it still turned out okay. Let me explain. This is my third Alternator custom, so I assumed Hasbro didn't make any changes to the plastic and coats. I could easily paint the other Alt's, so I figured this would be the same. Wrong. The plastic was super paint-repellant. Admitted, I picked a stupid paint, Humbrol Metallic Black. (I wanted to make Shattered Glass Rodimus) That stuff is like chewed bubblegum, ugh. Anyway, it dried up very ugly, it looked like granny-skin. Not to mention, it didn't quite dry at all. I took a knife and I could scrap it off TOO easily. And since I also already saw a Shattered Glass Rodimus, I wanted a different design. So I coated the entire thing in Tamiya X-11 Chrome Silver, painted the flames on, added the stickers. THEN I made the mistake of spraying the WRONG clearcoat on. All my work dissolved before my eyes. I had to shave the model down, AGAIN, and start over. I did. There's some shaving in some places which I can't get out, so it looks ugly in the nooks and crannies. But oh. It looks pretty awesome from a distance. I just had bad luck. I'm gonna try primering for my next project. (Never needed it up until now!) Another reason why he turned out sloppy, was maybe, because I ran out of patience. I love him, but I don't like him. Group Picture!
Thanks I'd like to take bigger pictures, but then the rough edges become too noticable, and I don't need feedback on those, I know they look awful haha. It's more for the design.
to his left? That Autobot Cinder. He has a topic on this thread, but didn't get many replies, you can search for "Alt. Tracks"
Oh, um, sure =P, that's my Alternators Samurai Prowl, find his topic by searching Alt. Tracks and don't be shy to comment!
This is really cool. I'm surprised nobody ever thought to make a bot like this before. And while you might not be happy with the overall paint job you should be proud of those flames because they look great! Did you make decals or did you free hand them? Either way they look awsome!
I like the design quite a bit, in the future though, if your not gonna prime your alt, I'd go with Krylon Fusion, to avoid a lot of the problems you had with reapplying paint. You may also want to contact Superquad7 or Plowking, two Mods who have a HUGE amount of experience painting alts, as well as Rod.
Krylon Fusion? I've read that brand on the boards every other time. Could you explain how that tops regular acrylics and/or enamels? Is that airbrush only, or can I use a brush too? Either way, when I have the choice, I will pick enamels over acrylics. I will ask about Krylon Fusion next time I'm at the shop.
