Universe Galvatron Prototype - added 1st finish coat Never liked that "tank" Galvatron that came out... was hard to transform, and the legs kept fallng off in robot form. Bleah. I took the more "Galvatrony" elements that I could and put them on an Energon Barricade body, then played with the transformation a bit to make his cannon mode. The wings are from an Armada Jetfire. I like the grey primer look for now, but will probably finish-paint him when I get a chance. EDIT 7/12/09: Got the 1st coat of finish paint on him, played with him (hence the paint around his collar is a little scratched and took a few shots. "This is bad comedy!"
I think its cool as hell. My only gripe is that are ya going to remove the wheels or just leave them be. But still thats my only flaw I see. But hey its your custom and you do whatever you want.
Actually I need the wheels on the arms to help hold the cannon in place. I think they look kinda cool, like gears or something almost. The ones on the torso look ok to me, primered up like this, I'm ok with it. Guess I'm pretending that my Galvatron can shoot more than heh -- "direct current electricity" per his tech specs. I'm thinking something more like a rail gun. I've got him standing up next to my Cyclonus and Scourge (my next custom to finish) and he looks in GREAT proportion, which is what i was really wanting. I have an Energon Galvatron already and did a minor mod/repaint like a lot of people have done, but it never felt right that he was 2x the size of Cyclonus. This deluxe size feels way better. FYI, the little post on his arm that the cannon rests on was actually the post that his head came on in the original Universe Galv. tank.
Hey thats cool with me. If it what you did to make this custom your own then I'm cool with it. I have Uni. Galvatron and yet I'm keeping him the way he is or hoping that Hasbro makes a better version of him, but it'll never happen but its a whatever.
The prototype Galv? No, he's a deluxe class. The thing was is that Energon Barricade with the tiny Galvatron head needed some bulk to him, so I added the wings, and also didn't transform the feet the way that Barricade's feet originally transformed... I kept them untransformed which had the effect of giving him an extra 1/4 inch in "stilts", then glued the tank Galvatron's feet in front to make it look like he has feet. My goal is have a lineup of deluxe sized figures of the G1's, either bought if I like the classics/universe offerings well enough or bash my own. So far I'm up to Optimus Prime (repaint) Megatron (bash) Starscream Prowl Shockwave (Bash) Soundwave (Bash) Jetfire (ok, this one's voyager size but that makes sense in my mind) Hound w/ Ravage Working on: Skywarp (repaint) Thundercracker (repaint) Flywheels Duocon (Major Bash) Fortress Maximus (Bash) -- Leader Class, but again makes sense to me Gears (small bash - scout size, makes sense) The big push was that when you have Megatron as a voyager and Starscream as a deluxe, it just doesn't look right... not quite like the cartoon. W/ my custom deluxe Megs, (yeah, I'll post soon) there's still a height difference but now it's minor and Megs still dominates.
Thanks for all the good comments! I edited the main post to put up some 1st color shots now, having done the 1st coat this morning. Final finish coat(s) to come...
Not bad paint apps. Is starting to look like the crazy Decepticon we known and love/to hate. Keep up the good work, vidmouse.
I don't know why I find it funny that I think this, but I actually like this project. Seeing wheels on Galvatron is a bit off-putting, but it's not the worst thing. Or maybe any Galvatron that's NOT Universe Deluxe Galvatron is just a step up in itself. This looks good though.
