Well Rodimus/Hot Rod has always been my number one favorite character and when his classics figure came out i was ecstatic to get it. but ive always felt like something was missing......til now! Wheres Rodimus without his trusty Targetmaster partner Firebolt? I recently snagged a G1 Firebolt to compliment my Rodimus. However i wasnt aware that the peg holes in Rodimus' fists are about a millimeter too small for him to hold Firebolt in weapon mode. so i improvised. its really craptastic picture but basically i took a drill and kinda buffed away the inner edges of Rodimus' fist then attached a phillips head bit to the drill and let it boar away the excess plastic a little at a time until i had a perfect snug fit. the best part ot all of this is that i was really cautious about doing this mod. but luckily i had a spare Rodimus lying around. so if i dont like the result i have the spare limbs and parts i need to have one perfect Rodimus. I also drilled a small hole just in fron of his spoiler that Firebolt can mount to in vehicle mode. Although on G1 Hot Rod i know Firebolt pegged onto the engine, i believe this works better and doesnt look nearly as silly as the G1 figure did. Im hoping that once Fans Project releases the Protector armor that the fists will be the appropriate size for Firebolt so i dont have to modify it at all. DUDE! i would love to do this but i jsut dont have the skills and i only have one Firebolt so if i screw up no more chances. lol but hed only need a couple jionts to be on par with Universe 2.0 Nightstick i suppose
Hell yeah dude, any Rodimus freak like you would want that, hope you plan to do something sweet with the rodimus your getting from me!
They did it with Cyclonus, so I see no problem in re-releasing Classic Rodimus with a new Targetmaster figure, and maybe repainted in cartoon colors to be different from the original figure's release. ^repaint colors aside, I'd so buy a Classics Targetmaster Rodimus.
Hey Blue Death, was it difficult to bore out the fist? I want to try it but I'm sheepishly afraid of damaging the figure.
not really at all. i was REALLY afraid of doing that myself. i didnt want to use a giant drill and risk completely ravaging his hand. so i took an electric screwdriver with a 4-way phillips head bit on it. while i held the arm in place i bored a little plastic at a time with the screwdriver and just pressed down a little. eventually i got rid of just enough plastic to allow Firebolt to peg in very snuggly.
now i just need to find another hot rod and get my mitts on a firebolt targetmaster this is way better than the flamethrower gun
As much as I hate Hot Rod (he got Prime killed dammit!!) I have to admit, this is a pretty sweet mod.

I understand peoples hatred of Rodimus but honestly the fact that he replaced Optimus is what i love most about him. In a time when the Autobots were essentially leaderless. and up against entirely impossible odds he stepped forward. hes always been a favorite of mine for that. season 3 may have ,ade him seem lame but no matter what continuity it is. if its a G1-ish continuity hes my number one favorite. Energon Rodimus can suck it hard though lol on a side note, i cant wait to get good old Fansprjoect Protector armor whnever they finish it!
