new pics! i was tired of working on my transformers,so i decide to work on something i love too, star wars here my first star wars scratchbuild:IMPERIAL LAMBDA-CLASSE SHUTTLE
l thought I cant see much, it reminds me of one of those Star Wars space vehicles. HAHA i just read it now, it IS Star Wars, i feel stupid now.
amazing i've been working with styrene for only a little while so if you don't mind a possibly noob sounding question how do you get the thin angle on the wings to stay glued and hold the angle against the weight of the rest of the wing? also for the small circles that hold the wings on to the rest of the ship. they are usually a real weak stress point which breaks easily. thanks
well,i'm using mostly 0.60mm thick styrene,so it's strong enough to support the wings angles, add 2 more layers of 0.40mm styrene on each side for the panel details and you got something really tough!as for the ties for the wings and main body i 'm still working on them,i'm just not happy with the result for now,but i am with the cockpit, just using a hot air gun to curve the styrene,it work well too! for the scale, i've use an old model i got a least 15 years ago and double the size of it,so the top wing 16'' high and the rear wing 15''
hey! i have that old model as well. The imperial shuttle was one of my favorite vehicles. I bought the target reissue toy a couple years back and plan on making it more accurate(the guns, some scale issues, etc.) and trying to add in proper elcetronics. that is pretty beautiful man, great work. are you planning on reinforcing parts with brass tubing? that would make for some nice clean hinges for the wings. Every version of that shuttle that has ever been produced has misalignment with the wings. bad hinges and stops always seem to be it's downfall. i want to make mine geared so they fold perfectly. I'll be looking forward to this one. keep it up! Randy!
DIBS!!! It's mine, I call it! That is some impressive work you're doing man. Ever since I saw ROTJ when I was 7 the Imperial Shuttle has been near and dear to my heart.
