What a waste. This would have definately been a great addition to my Masterpiece/Alternator collection. Hasblow is ******s for not making this.

I do, however, have to say the robot mode looks a LOT like Classics Bumblebee. It looks almost like an oversized version of the classics figure in robot mode. I wonder how much this thing would go for if it ever made it's way to ebay. It'd probably cost way too much fro my wallet, but this would be an awesome edition to a collection somewhere.

I don't believe this was ever intended as a binaltech. The arms look totally different than all the other binal tech arms. I don't think it's a coincidence that this looks almost exactly like the classics bb. This was probably an early version of the classics.

Volkswagon wouldn't let them use the model anymore, since it was a "violent" toy, so it's not Hasbro's fault.

*facepalm* The reason why Hasbro was unable to make this was because Volkswagon refused to grant Hasbro and TakaraTomy the license! This should be common knowledge by now.

Therefore, the ones you should blame are Volkswagon.

No, we've seen sketches of this guy and his Cliffjumper retool in a Binaltech book before, years before Classics hit shelves. If anything Classics Bee was based off of this design.

Pretty sure it wasn't Hasbro's fault it didn't get produced. Doesn't VW have a policy against thier products being used as war machines?

Don't flame Hasbro just yet. I too feel like this was a waste of a hardcopy; would've been an awesome figure. However due its existence we can tell Hasbro *was* trying to make it; or at least Takara was. Notice how there's no Volkswagen (VW) logos on the vehicle. Nor are the 'Beetle Si' tags or whatever.

Chances are Hasbro/Takara showed this to Volkswagen and they were still on their "We dont want Volkswagen affiliated with war-toys!" bender. Obviously this changed after the first movie due to Audi being owned by Volkswagen. This prototype showing up all of a suddenly could possibly mean VW might change their minds*. We can only wait and see.

    ~Z

*I am suggesting this, though I don't really think it'll come to fruition. I'm only suggesting a possibility.

Pretty sure they still don't want thier vehicles portrayed in this way, otherwise Sideways would have been way more accurate.

If popular rumor is true, it wasn't for lack of Hasbro asking VW either... Apparently VW basically told them to stop asking.

No, you see, that's important: the toy depicted here doesn't transform like the Binaltech sketch, the sketch is not of this guy. This piece is much more likely to be a classics bee prototype.
