Sorry, the Corvette Centennial Concept is inspired by 100% Corvette. QFT!!!! As a previous owner of a '91 (Steel Blue Metallic ext./Steel Blue int.) and a '98 (Pewter Metallic ext./Black int.) I agree there is no comparison from the Camaro/Firebird platforms, The Corvette is indeed a world class car. However the last year ('04?) WS-6 Ram Air Firebird's was pretty bad a$$! Or the traditional Corvette logo: the crossed flags! I can imagine them monochrome as well with the ends of the flags breaking up into flame effects. Concerning the custom, Awesome job! With the exception of the hood decal, IMO!
Where? I just don't see it I guess. I'm a pretty diehard Covette man, can usually guess ANY Corvette's year by walking around the car once, just don't see Camaro. Sorry to get off topic, but can you point out my oversight?
great job! i love the paint. it's a metallic w/ flakes. i got my car painted using Dodge Viper GTS Blue Pearl paint and my painter gave me a pint for touch ups, should i ever get a scratch; how much reducer did you use to shoot that paint? did you do it w/ an airbrush? looks great man.
You didn't actually offend me, man, I was just sticking up for the underdog. This Vette is most definitely the pinnacle of decades of Corvette styling and history, and is a beautiful design. This whole emblem discussion has reminded me of how much I love Reprolabels' Runamuck upgrade set Decepticon/Firebird emblem. A full scale decal for my white '87 Firebird would be sweet. Back on topic... I think a modified Corvette logo as Big Hank suggested would be pretty cool. Also of note is the Jake logo from Corvette Racing. I don't know how well it would work on this figure or in these colors, but I think it would make an awesome concept for a bash. Hank, I've got an '87(white) and a '96 Firebird (black). The 87's got ~250k on the odometer and is still running like a champ. I've got plans for an engine and tranny swap on the '96 for the near future. I love those cars. Maybe someday I'll add one of those '03 WS6 models to my little collection...that or a Firehawk.
what difference is the distinction between a Firebird / Trans Am and a Corvette while the lower R&D obviously went into the Camaros & Firebirds the fact that GM owns both trademarks is a stupid argument, I personally prefer an old 69 Camaro to any other Camaros since (except the 2010 that is), and what GM showed as a concept for the new Firebird to me was bad ass, but Pontiac is probably going away, leaving Chevy to fill the mid line sports category behind Caddy's higher (luxury) line performers, I don't much care for Vettes myself and that as an example to argue someones opinion is stupid, I am not a dumb ass for not liking Vettes, that is my preference not yours so who cares, that is my point. if you don't like something someone has posted as a custom don't put your 2 cents in just to make yourself feel good, critique yes, but why put down someone else for what they like? there are many customs here that I don't like at all, but I do not feel the need to down someones efforts. I like the Tracks here, I don't like Vettes but I like the character so whatever and that mold is of the concept Corvette Stingray, of which may be the only Vette I like being the '67 Stingray, but the new version looks decent as well. and it may have Caddy cues, it is still a GM and A Corvette Stingray. that's also like saying the Dodge Challenger sucks ass compared to the Viper who cares they're both Mopars, now if someone put Super Bee stripes on a Camaro then I would agree with the stupidity of the fact and argue to remove the stripes.... and before anyone cries about Mopars, I own an '04 Stratus that I love.
I thought about that skull/flag logo, but I don't think it would work for Tracks, on a fan character would be cool as heck though!! The facial details are outstanding! Your paintwork really brings out the best of that head! Great stuff! Off topic, that '87 has an L-98 tuned port motor right? My '91 Corvette had that, great motor, lotsa torque! I guess the '96 would be an LT-1? I actually prefer the L-98, that LT-1 opti-spark setup was WTF all the way!
Really cool. I dont quite dig the decal as much. It looks good but I think that the car is flash enough where it doesn't need it. But that aside, Excellent paint job! Very well executed!
Thanks for all the comments! I didn't realize the sticker would be such a controversy! I was on the fence about it, but I see I went with the wrong idea. If I do this one again; I'll lkely use a more generic flame look. kaotic504: As far as the paint is concerned, it was actually just some "Dupli-color" auto spray straight from the can from a local store; most any car parts stores carry the stuff. It has a fine spray and coats well. I live in an apt so an airbrush doesn't really work for me. Thanks everyone!
I just saw this and missed the auction >.< Hopefully Hasbro takes the hint, but I doubt a mass produced figure would look anywhere near as good. Great work.
