I thought I would post a few Animated customs I did earlier. Here are my cartoon accurate Blitzwing and Blackarachnia. With Blackarachnia I cut off her hands and added a swivel joint to her wrist, so now her hands can rotate. I added a little purple and copper paint, and now she looks much better in robot mode. The two biggest problems I had with Blitzwing were that in the cartoon the cannons can rotate and point forward over each shoulder, and that the wings are attached to his backpack, not his arms. I found a solution to both problems that I am happy with. The backpack sits too low to just put hinges on the cannon barrels, so I had to get creative. I cut the flames off of his missiles and glued new tips on them. I used part of the missiles from Classics Starscream for the new tips. Once they were glued in place and painted, they look like part of the cannon barrels, and when fired, they look very similar to the missiles he fires in jet mode. I drilled a hole in the bottom of the cannons, and can stick the base of the missiles in the hole to make them sit on his shoulders like in the cartoon. The changes to move his wings took a lot more planning. I figured out I could pull off the part on his arm that the wing connects to, and connect them together. Like that they could be re-attached to the part the turret connects to for the tank mode, and they would sit in the correct position. Then all I needed to do was figure out how to make the new part connect to the back to hold it in place in robot mode. I used some lego parts for that, and now Blitzwing is much more articulate and accurate looking. His transformation from jet to tank is unchanged, though I found a slightly different way to transform him to make the jet more stable. I do have pictures showing the transformation to robot mode so you can see how that is done. Enjoy.
So, the wings part comes off completely, then reattach to the cannon part? Eh, I don't like partsforming, but it does look good. Great job on Blackarachnia, those arms were incredibly annoying. XD
Yeeeesssss, tecnically the wings do come off, but when you transform it, it goes from being attached to the arms, to being attached to the backpack, it is never seperate on its own. So it is only cheating a little. Actually when I planned it I intended there to be a hinge between the backpack and wings, and was getting ready to install it when I realized functionally it transforms the same way with or without the hinges in place, so I decided it was superfluous and left them off. If it makes you feel any better, it actually could work.
I just took my wings off and snapped them on his backpack and the wings/cannons stand up w/o the aid of LEGOs....for now. Thanks for the idea. cheers!
