Yes well this is my first time posting a kit bash and it was my first proper time using a dremel (or how ever you spell it lol) kit with my kit bashes. Well I did this one because I loved what I saw on the show and I have done more as well just have to post them up when they are finished i.e. the side fins for his flight mode attached to missile launchers that fire water. Well the base of the jet pack is tread bolts back pack with animated Star Screams wings on it, simple enough done. The missile launchers which are going to be on his wrists are tread bolts again but his missiles have been cut down and glued together with the head of Inferno's missiles. The fins on it are animated Star Screams tail fins cut and sandpapered down to fit the shape and they still fire as well. Here are the pics. Please excuse the messy desk lol. This is my first time posting pics of a kit bash on any forum in fact and I'm trying to get a commision lined up to do braces for the missile launchers so that they snap onto the sides of primes wrists. Once the paint is applied as well it should look awesome plus I'm trying to get a magnus hammer purely for this figure. Well tell me what you think so far.
Thanks so far it has taken me 2 nights of work getting everything to the right size customizing the back of prime so that stupid gimick was no longer there. What I did was this prime when bought had its connector piece broken off, it was a gift given to me and the receipt was lost. With out the connector it just kept spinning round, right round, like a record baby, right round, round round lol. So what I did was glue a small piece of plastic between the two back pieces where his torso is so it had a stop point when he swivels. I originally had the back done differently but when that stupid trigger gimmick kept getting in the way so what I did was remove that and the jetpack locks in place on his back and can come off just as easy. The hardest part was removing star screams wings and trying to get the cut even for both sides. After I cut them off I realized I could make him into another animated clone one of the cone heads which one I won't say I don't want to give the surprise away. I still have to paint him ofcourse but for now I don't have the spare cash until I can get a job as everything that I used for this kitbash was given to me lol, my mate bought me prime and star scream and we got the tread bolt for free at the Toys R Us toy sale spend 100 bucks on transformers nad get one free so yeah. Any ways I would love some tips on making him look even better so if you have any please go ahead and say them. I also only realized that I forgot to bring his legs up after you told me that and now with his legs extended properly he looks even better with the back pack. What I can do is later on put some glue tack under neath the missile launchers an glue tack them to the arms so you can get a good glimpse of what he is expected to look like.
This is pure EPIC WIN - Im astounded no-ones thought of doing the Animated Godbomber Jetpack before now. Its gonna look sweet as when the paints and wrist fins are done. Great stuff!
really wow, any ways I like this form the cannons make him look more epic then those cannons that look like the voyager water gun.
I was wondering any one can give me some tips on painting please. I really want to get this back pack looking good and well I don't have the skills myself and I don't really know what to do so can some one please give me some tips.
Please I need tips guys on painting or if any customizers are out there reading this please reply by pm as I need clips made up for the arm parts.
Well I'm not quite to sure on how to paint it really, I'm not a painter and I have to try and get the paint to do it. That's why I was asking for tips.
You_grimlock_are_King: You could check the tutorials here at Radicons or this link: Basic Guide to Painting Transformers Figures Hope this could be helpful.
This is what he looks like with the side fins on him. I decided to use the missile launchers because I have never seen a prime with those water cannons and I though it would make good use of them as well.
I'm trying to do this for the battle begins prime and can't figure out how to get something to connect to the back. Any help?
Lol This was the deluxe it took me a bit to figure it all out and now sadly he is packed away for a bit but I can post the pics up because I took them before he was put away so here they are the almost finished version. I just need the matrix that he had in the final couple of seconds on cybertron to go around his neck also need a spare Magnus hammer for him that I can custom to fit. I did how ever make up a small matrix for him but its more like the beast wars one for big convoy so it could fit in primes hands It also sits well inside his chest. For the chest I used small powerful magnets to look it into place they are powerful enough to sense that they are being separated and separate but strong enough to keep it tight in place as well. You will also notice I tried my best attempt to put head lights on the top of the cab like G1 prime this was the only idea I could come up with to cover the hinges. The Missile launchers that are on his arms are the stabilizers with the fins on it. I made them from Treadbolts missile launchers and water missile is a combination of Treadbolts and infernos missiles. The missiles as I could not find the clips I wanted had to have a small hole drilled into the sides so that they could stay fixed in place. I also kept his face mask on as I felt it looked better then with it off as he used it like that in the episode. You will notice I also gave it the ability to attach via the feet to stay on while in truck mode but it's still easily falls off this I wish to fix I did this so that he kinda has a battle mode for when he is in vehicle mode as well. Eventually the goal on him is to exchange the hands for gundam master piece hands. also want to give him better knee articulation and some extra details like get a small battery pack attachment so that the siren can light up as well as a light for the section for the matrix. Also I reckon a number plate on him would look awesome lol. In time I will re work out the back pack so it actually transforms into a back section. I am not happy with the counter weight balance of the figure I feel that the front chest leans down to much and that was before the modifications towards him. The axe is from the battle begins one but still I need a Magnus hammer for him. For the back pack it took me a while to figure it out. I had to remove the stupid swinging gimmick and the button for it and also shave plastic down so that it could just clip onto the actual back. The paint I used was a citadel paints and I always used their putty but it's a crap based one and I would not recommend any one using it as I found it not to stay hard as soon as it went onto a surface it would stick to it and well it was easy to scratch the paint off even with a little force (Unless I did it wrong I don't know) I still want to do more work to him and when I know how to use ink's I will do more detail on him for it. So I give you my version (and a more actual look a like winged prime for animated and if I don't mind saying so I reckon it looks better and in proportion) Animated Winged Prime!
I think it looks great! Tip tho, edit the first post so that the final version pics are on the front page that everyone can see
