Pre-Shading, it seemed easier that way. Although on the jetpack there was a little post shading.

I actually was going to do two heads like the canopy, and have one of them for the Jet and have the other for bot form. The bot form head would have been narrower, I just couldn't justify buying a treadbolt for just the head and I was out of silicone to make another mold.

As soon as I was uploading pictures, I realized I forgot to do that pose, I'll try to get some taken tomorrow.

I'll get the gallery pictures together sometime this weekend.

Wow, that looks so amazing!     I can't say I'm a big Macross fan. I've heard of it, but I've never seen it. (Although, I did watch Robotech when it was on Cartoon Network several years ago if that counts?  ) Anyway... I've seen pictures of what you're going for before and I'd have to say that this repaint is as spot on as you can get using Jetfire. I mean, the panel linning and the decals and the airbrushed weathering... how do you even do that?   It looks so sick man, I really hope you submit it to the gallery.

I've been having Dreadwind and Treadbolt hanging out in my "Lost Universe-Hopping Non-TF Mecha TFs" section along with the various Go-Bots homages and Micromen, with the justification being that they're lost Valyks.

But they will always look sad now compared to your gorgeous work!

Excellent job! I, too, thought we'd be seeing dozens of custom Jetfires into Macross planes every week. This might be the first time I saw someone actually do it, and it's totally awesome!

Also: To this day, I think it's incredibly hilarious how Robotech couldn't release Bandai's 80s VF-1 mold toy because Transformers somehow got the rights. HILARIOUS.

excellent custom, the panel lining is simply out of this world!  

 

If I had access to just the decals of those models, I would. But as it is, I have to buy the whole model just for the decals. Its kinda annoying and expensive.

 

I love your technique, really liked your Evil Jetfire as well.

This is a beautiful repaint. I would never have thought that this mold would look that good in the 1S livery.
