I love fixing up G1s...I think I've started another obsession.

This is my entry for the "Radicons for the Kids" project care of mattarmstrong. The G1 Scourge was donated from DSN (thanks man!)

    Here are close to completed mod pics. I've wildly improved articulation;
    - Shoulders rotate
    - Arms go outwards
    - Upper arm allows outward/inward posing of arm
    - Elbows fixed
    - Hands are full articulated 1/100 gundams and in ball jointed wrist holes
    - Waist rotates (slightly)
    - Back wings fixed so they clear the arms a little better
    - Lower torso replaced and "upgraded"
    - Hips allow front to back leg positioning as well out outwards/inwards
    - Knees work right now, front shell of alt adjusts to accommodate bent legs
    - Feet hinged better so they lay flat and add better stability.
    - Chest plate modded so it slides up/down
    - Head now on ball joint
    - Exhaust thing in back of head in bot mode modded so it's no longer in the way of head (allowing positioning of head to look upwards)
    - Legs modded so they can rotate outward/inward

I kinda winged the leg mods, expecting to go back and revisit, but....(by luck I guess) he still transforms perfectly into alt mode.

Still gotta refine some of the areas where parts were joined, add some features to break up the seas of blandness, and paint him up. Possibly might add LEDs somewhere too....also need to build that canon thing for the top of his head!

Lemme know what you all think!

yeah, does look a little "block headed" but that's scourge...I might try to snag one from the titanium, or sculpt bot, but I like the face on G1 over the titanium, and he needs that square shape for alt mode.

lol just figured out why it looks off to me, the head lazer thingy isn't on yet.
Are you making one from scratch or using the original?

Man, I love this kinda stuff. I wish I had it in me to go at one of these, but I just don't have it in me.

This one is gold. The head fits fine--it IS the original headpiece afterall. Nicely done so far!

Any chance of seeing G1 Prime? I'd be curious to see how you'd change him up. :)

Wow F_R, you might have outdone yourself this time. Scourge looks like a whole new bot! Although, I kind of agree with Grimlocka go-go on the that square G1 head. It just seems off now that he has that new svelte figure. Maybe if you could bulk up his upper arms and shoulders some that boxy head would seem to fit better (if possible). But, like you said, that boxy G1 head looks way better than the titanium head and is needed for his alt mode. How do you plan to do his signature pink fingernails?

Oh, and just because I'm wondering, why do you desaturate your wip pictures sometimes?

Man, he is looking gorgeous and you are very welcome. I can't wait to see him painted.

Are you considering using some putty to fill in the cannons on his wings as well to remove the gaps?

Very nice! I echo other sentiments about the head, the face is perfect but the rest looks a bit too blocky given the new articulation of the rest of the figure. Maybe once the blaster is added to the top of the head it'll fit it a lot more. Still, it looks great so far.

I think the next G1 I tackle is Perceptor, I have him complete on this very desk and he's itching for better articulation. After that, I'm thinking of something different and new...

Thanks guys. I like the B&W WIP pics ;)  I wanted to beef up the upper arms, but the style on them is difficult to match, and when in alt mode, the shells of the ship already fit against the existing arms (the wings fold forward, then slide together, every bit of space is already used. I will probably sharpen up the finger tips but keep them blue, like this pic:

Thanks for the donation! I still need to refine the dirty bashing. Good call on the canons, that would have been something I missed.

Thanks, not much I really can do with the head, only option would be to rebuild one thats about 80% size, which I think would solve the proportion and head problems - but don't think that's gonna happen.

You did an amazing job, but the proportional flaws in the original mold are becoming accentuated with the articulation. Most noticeably is that the head is just too big, while the arms appear really skinny.

Maybe Sculpt-bot's Scourge head will work for it, but I agree pass on the Titanium one. I think it looks horrible. I think the arms won't stand out nearly as much if the head was smaller.

    The lower half looks great!

I'm surprised at how detailed, albeit blocky, the original head is.

    This is very nice work.

Yeah, as a kid I remember noticing how different the head looked from every other transformer, despite the mustache. It looked much more organic.

It looks awesome, mike. If you painted his nails pink, that'll scream Scourge, but if you wanted to be like that pic, then you got my support.
