Just finished up upgrade painting to Leader Optimus. Might do some more, not sure yet. Layout: Silver - Shoulder bits, neck, windscreen, rearview mirrors, windshield wipers, lower chest lights, feet. Blue - Upper doors, lower torso, feet detailing. Red - the little flaps on the bottom of the blue panels on his inner legs. Looks a lot more screen accurate, although the blue is a little light, I'll fix that in the morning. Can't wait to see what the big repainters can do with this figure.
for sure an improvement. but bro.... you should go all out and paint all that dull plastic silver!!!!!! Then it would really pop! this mold is to great to not shine!!!!
I love this figure, very nice improvements. I think if the legs were slightly larger, he'd be dead on accurate. I love the mechanics behind the chest and how it all transforms.
Looks nice Peaugh Show it to Hasbro, and see if they will mass release him like this....tell them Peaugh commands it!!
with the simple paint touchups it looks even better (especially without those dorky red toes)... i demand drybrushing! haha
This is deffinatelty the route I'm taking with mine. Put a black wash on all the silver plastic parts, paint his hands a darker silver and dry brush after painting.
he doesn't just transform, he combines with jetfire too. he needs a bit of a wash or highlighting or something to bring out all the detail
Yeah, I've considered it, but I haven't quite yet perfected my washing technique yet, and I'm more afraid of ruining the toy than desirous of seeing every detail.
That is the great thing...... Just a little is SO much. Just look at the Sideways you did.(Yeah, I saw that). There are plenty of tutorials on here. Or if you really want, if you have a local games workshop, go spend a few bucks and an hour asking them how to do some things. They enjoy helping others. I think you might be afraid of becoming addicted to customizing. Come over to the Radicons side!!!!!! You never know, you could do a few custom and make some money to get more plastic crack!!!
Updated. Got some silver on the sidesteps (going to hit it with another pass, looks fine to the eye but those pics look like it didn't fully coat a couple of places), and some gold on the ankle trim. Did the outside gold bits on the ankles as well, but it's blocked by the wheels. Still having some red issues with my camera. He's a nice dark red color all over, and the red bits I painted on his legs is a dead match to my eye, but it all turns pinky-orange in pics. I still haven't sat down with the full manual for the new camera, I should probably do that soon.
Why dun you panel line him? It's easy and it'll probably bring the details out through the contrast. Use a black gundam marker if you want an anime effect or grey if you want realism. I'll go with the ANime Effect!
