Well, this project didn't have the best of beginnings. I wanted to do Wheeljack here and bought a Sunstreaker to do it. Clearly, 'Streaker doesn't have the proper head to pull it off. So I waited until I could get a Sideswipe since I had already started working on the slash across the hood. This is actually a Sideswipe head on a Sunstreaker body. I probably could've gotten it done sooner had I not missed the detail about the head because Sideswipe has a few white parts I would've left white. My only regret with this is that Hot Shot's not out yet. I took a few things from both the cartoon/Japanese version and the American release of the figure. I decided not to give him the swords because I didn't want to go out and find an extra pair. In time, I might be motivated to get some and paint the tips black to differentiate them from the original Wheeljack's. As with my Cyclonus posted today, there are more pics and those will be included when I submit Wheeljack as a gallery. These are just the ones I felt showed off the best detail
Oh, I also wanted to comment on the lack of symbols. I was going to paint a rough Decepticon insignia on the roof of his car mode, but I felt it would be too chopped up in robot mode. I knew I didn't want to put anything else on the hood, but I think it's a nice touch. If I ever start putting decals on my Transformers customs, I'll throw 2 Decepticon insignias on him: one on the hood and another on his right arm like the toys. As for a little background, I'd stick with the being left behind by Hot Shot only this time a group of Decepticons found him. They brought Wheeljack before Megatron who gave him the ultimatum of death or allegiance to the Decepticons, which would also carry with it Decepticon advances in technology. He accepted the later, but still wishes he was an Autobot and regrets his decision. He won't turn against Megatron because Megs implanted him in a device to kill him if he does
